How much time does your Yorkie spend outside?? Sophie loves to be outside! When I get home from my morning workout, I take her outside for around 45 minutes. We play awhile, then she sniffs around the grass while I read. I have her on a little tie-out cable so that she can have a wide play area but not run off. We spend an hour or so out there in the afternoon, beneath a shade tree so she can have shade and sun. When the kids get home, we are outside on and off until her bedtime. How much time does your Yorkie spend playing outside? |
i take scrappy out several times a day but we spend about an hour in the afternoon out there while i got clothes on the line its been very nice here the last couple of days . :) my yard is fenced in so he has the run of my back yard and he loves it . |
Mine do not spend much time outside. They only go outside to potty. Once in awhile, I'll take them outside to play fetch. |
Trace has seemed to forgotten he is an "inside dog". He adores playing in the grass. He spends about 3 hours outside after work. Last weekend we spent 6 hours or more outside :animal-sm |
Outside When it is nice, I just leave the door open to the back yard and they can go out as they please. They spend lots of time outside. They love to explore my flower beds, and sun themselves on the deck. On the weekends they are outside most of the time. |
I finally have a fenced in back yard as of yesterday and I'm going to be so glad that I don't have to put the leash on them anymore they could spend all day out side chasing birds and bugs and they seem to like to eat sticks and pine cones... however it is a little cold today so they only want out for the potty breaks. ;) |
If Peanut had it her way she would be out there all day, its hard to bring her in b/c she looks so cute sitting in the tall grass (compared to her everything is tall) her little eyes say "please don't take me in, you go ahead inside and i'll come in later I promis i'll be good" She NEVER comes in willingly I have to pick her up to get her to come in. |
My dogs are for the most past indoor dogs. Chachi goes out when we do but wants of come in if we are in the house. Jewels is small and rarely goes outside when we do. |
outside puppy gracie LOVES it outside...i can't get her to come inside...it is really sad right now cause to keep her with me at my apartment I have to keep her inside, but when I go home for the summer my parents have a HUGE fenced in backyard and my house in the fall has a fenced in yard...so she will LOVE it. |
I'm jealous of all you guys with fences! My fence is rock with wrought iron railings- the space between the railings is too big and she could escape so easily. :( |
Mine are inside dogs.. I haven't even let my Yorkie outside at all because she hasn't finished her shots. I just don't feel comfortable with them being outdoors more often because of all the nasty stuff that is common around here. But I do plan on walking them frequently once she is protected... Do you all get any grief for not letting your dogs outside more often? I was kinda attacked on another forum for keeping my dogs inside... |
LOVES to be outdoors! Chelsea loves being out doors...we have a rock wall that surrounds our yard, but we do have a pool, and that worries me. Few weeks ago, she fell in, caught her doing laps, too funny! Luckily she is 10 lbs, and a good swimmer, but she was very angry, when I went outside, she swam on her own to the steps and got out....but she angrily barked at me. I think she prefers the water to be warmer! SO now, I check on her more frequently if she is out alone, but she loves the yard, brings me all kinds of "trophies"--flowers, twigs, leaves, pinecones, sprinkler bubblers, feathers, etc.and she loves to DIG! I think she is tunneling to China. She also loves the lawn sprinklers, which are set on automatic timer, but if she hears them turn on, she barks, is ready to play in the water. If I need to do stuff, where I cant be checking on her, I make her stay indoors, but she isnt happy, so I treat her to a Greenie...the old bribe trick. It will soon get to hot, for her to be outdoors, our summers can get up to 102*, so then she will need to be out just when its early. More Greenies, I guess! Chelsea'sMom :aimeeyork |
nala goes outside all the time. my whole family smokes so someone is always going outside and she's right behind them. up until this week it had been really nice outside so we would leave the patio door cracked so she could go in and out as she pleased. |
If it wer up to Halo he would become an outside dog. he loves it out there. he'll whine (10 wks) as if he has to go to the bathroom, but halo just wants to go the backyard and pick at the german shepards. everyday i will let all three out the gate and they just run, jump, and chase one another around a tree. halo is so small so he cant keep up, but he enjoys it anyways. i have to remind him that's not where he belongs. he'll go out there and get dirty then he has to take a bath. i think he might like baths. |
Mya gets out about 6 times a day for 5 to 20 mins. She goes out with me to stores and to visit friends etc. I would be afraid to leave her out in our back yard for fear that she would be stolen. So many people have commented to me that it is such a possibility. I think the problem is the local pet store charging $2800.00 + tax for small female Yorkie puppies. Mya runs around more off leash at our cottage up north. Inside our livingroom/dinning room/hall way is her 60ft run. When my s**tzu was alive I got a phone call asking if I was missing a dog. I said, Nooooooooooo. Turns out the neighbourhood kids opened my front door to "take General out to play” and then let him run in to the ravine with out telling me. I was busy painting an upstairs bedroom. I was fortunate that a good person picked him up and phoned me before General entered a busy mall parking lot. Our front door stays locked now.
