I Did It!! I made a Fleece Blanket for Melot!! I have been wanting to try the tie blanket project, since others have said it was soo easy...(Mind you, I don't even sew my own buttons back on!!) It is cold here in Chicago so I tried this for Melot when we are out in the carrier... Here it is....Tell me what you think!! It curled up on the edges and I did cut the 4" square out of all sides??? Tips...Comments greatly appreciated!! |

Melot sure does look like he is enjoying his new blanket! Great job, Mom! I think that is something I would like to try too. Hmmmmm....:hmmm33: |
I started making them a few months ago and like you can't even sew on a button. Now I am addicted!! I have made 5 adult size and 8 dog blankets. Yours turned out nice! |
Great job! I dropped a hint that I would like one for me for Christmas to my grandaughter. She made a Green Bay Packer one for hubby last year but he hasn't used it much because I steal it all the time. I even told her that Jack and Jilly could use one. We'll see is we get one. |
aawww hes so cute in his new blankie it looks great |
good job on the blanket, I love making those, easy and look nice, and they are very warm. looks like your furbaby is enjoying it too :) |
Looks great! Looks like your puppy enjoys it alot as well. :) I have made a ton of these, hoping I could use at least one for myself, but somehow Maizee is able to get every single one of them piled up on her own to sleep on. Silly girl. . |

Very Nice, Great job :) |
It's beautiful!!!! |
Great Blanket! I would like to know how to make them also. |
They are actually really simple to make. All you have to do is pick out your fabric. I've usually seen a pattern matched with a solid, but I have a pattern on pattern and a solid on solid, so make it any way you like! Make sure they are the same size. Lay one on the floor, pattern side down and the other on top, pattern side up. You may want to pin them together so they don't move around on you. Cut out squares from each corner. They can be any size, but I have usually heard anywhere from 4-6 inch squares. Whatever you prefer. Then, cut a fringe along the entire edge of the fabric. You can cut in as far as you like, but keep in mind the farther you cut in, the smaller your blanket will be. After you have made it all the way around the blanket, you tiethe two layers of the fringe together. I've heard of two ways of tying them together. 1) knotting them together 2) cut a small horizontal slit at the base of the fringe through both layers, take one layer (doesn't matter which one but I usually use the bottom) and feed it through the hole. Then take the bottom layer again (it will be the opposite layer that you used before) and feed that layer through the hole. After you've made it all the way around, you're done and puppy will love you forever! |
Thanks wil try it!! |
that is so cute. My poor guys need one, right now they just have towels. |
