Micro Chip Hi My name is Amy. I have a male Yorkie named Henry. He is 1 yr. I took him to get Micro Chipped last Saturday. I felt kinda bad for doing it b/c the needle was so big. He whined alittle, but was back to his busy self in moments. Is micro chipping worth it? I was told it was great. (By my Vet) Has anyone else done this? |
lexi is microchipped also, but i got her like that.... thankgod |
Lola had to have one to take her from Europe to Canada, shes small and her skin is thin, iv had people pet her and ask if she has a tick! .. are you soposed to be able to feel them? |
I think so.... i can feel where lexi had hers done by the neck area... i thought it was a bite or a pimple... |
Micro Chip I can feel it, but I thought it was because he just had it done. I just hope it is ok. I worry so much about my York. The Vet said Yorkies are easily stolen out of yards, ect... and with Micro chipping its easy to scan and find the right owners. |
true,if they take them to the vet..... still need to watch out for these little ones no matter what.... |
I see nothing wrong with it other than religious beliefs of course........I won't get mine microchipped for personal reasons but I think it's a great idea for others who are okay with it. |
My Lillian has a microchip..I think its a great idea |
I had Daisy mircochipped, poor lil girl had her rabies shot and kennel cough vaccination that day. I dont feel hers though. |
I got Benji microchipped too. I think it is great to know that all his info is on him at all times. He doesn't wear a collar because his momma doesn't want him to get it caught on something when she isn't home....hehe.... |
Gracie isn't microchipped and i wont be getting her done ... just my preference |
Trixie is microchipped. I was told that because the needle is so thick and they are so tiny, it's better to have it done when they're under. So I got it done when Trixie got spayed. But they're tough little ones! |
Maggie and Kizzy are both microchipped. they got that when they got spayed while they were asleep. Maggie just got her spay and chip Friday. She is doing great. running and playing like nothing has happened since last night. their fine and never let on theres anything there. |
All 4 of mine are micro-chipped. It is one way of keeping them safe. |
I'm having Pepper microchipped when he goes for neuter... He'll be asleep and won't even know it :) |
All my Yorkies have microchips . |

Where did you get your little girl ? |
Diesel isn't microchipped and I have no plans of getting it done. |
i bought her in Poland, were im going to university at the moment |
Both of mine are chipped. Awhile back someone brought a lost Yorkie to my house because they thought it was mine. It didn't have ID but it did have a blue tag on the collar for microchip info. I was in the process of calling the phone # on the chip when the owner found my house and got thier puppy back. I would hope someone would do the same if one of mine got lost. |
My vet said that if a pup is being put under for any reason - being spayed or neutered, for instance -- that's a good time to get them microchipped. But - she said she certainly would never put a dog to sleep just to microchip it. She said that she has done it so often that it's over with before the dog even knows it's going to be done. And - they usually don't even complain - plus whatever pain it might cause lasts no more than a second or two. And, she said, this small amount of discomfort certainly outweighs the risks of putting any animal to sleep. As far as feeling the microchip -- I am sure they are not all placed exactly the same...some are probably closer to the surface than others - some dogs are fatter and have larger areas for placement of these chips.... I would think that the smaller or thinner the dog - the more apt you are to feel the chips. And, this, in itself shouldn't be a problem. Carol Jean |
