Hi, welcome to YT! 3lbs is "pretty tiny"; but IF HE'S HEALTHY, shouldn't be a particular concern. Just use common sense and loads of love. There are many 'tiny' owners here, and I'm sure will be along to offer advice and tips for his care. The potty thing will take care of itself - later on - as he learns he can also potty outside. With supervision, of course. CONGRATULATIONS on your families' addition! |
Congratulations on your new furbaby! :congrats: That's a tiny one! Bet he's a cutie; post a pic for us when you bring him home. If you look through the different threads on health you will find a lot of answers to your questions......and of course you can always post a question if you can't find an answer. Most get back to you with help really quick. It's so nice here!:ghug: |

layla came on purina... not good... but i wasn't an informed ownder :( so i swtiched her to iams... still not good.. now she eats blue buffalo... all natural.. you can find them in specialty pet stores... Petsmart carries Blue Buffalo... just ask for their highest quality food.. no fillers... no corn. |
I'm from a tiny town with the closest Petsmart being an hour and a half away. I used to feed Maizee on Iams, but it made her sick (runny stools, etc.) and she would never want to eat. I recently switched her to Canidae since I can order that through Amazon and she LOVES it. It seems to fill her faster, and she actually gets excited for dinner time. My boyfriend's dog, a doberman, used to be on Iams as well and he switched to Canidae because of the natural ingredients. The corn in the Iams made his puppy break out all the time and he constantly had runny stools. |
thanks guys..appreciate everything...soon...he be at home me...3 days...check back with me for more pictures update!!! and a name for him.... |

Don't mean to scare you, but I'd say just be on the lookout for any signs of hypoglycemia in a guy that small. Mine was 1.5 pounds when I brought him home at 3 months and is now a tiny, but sturdy 3.5 pounds and holding at 10 months. He had two hypoglycemic episodes -- one just days after I brought him home and the other about a month and a half later. It was scary! The first time, he was very, very sick and was in the hospital for a couple days. He just went through a new home, not eating thing, but because he was so small, he didn't have too many reserves to fall back on. Get yourself some Nutrical (you can buy it at the pet store) just in case he decides not to eat when you first bring him home. My guy is now a good little eater. Even picky eaters will lap up this stuff. Be sure to look for signs of hypoglycemia (lethargy, diarhea, throwing up). If this happens, some Kyro syrup in his mouth should revive him, and then try feeding him 20-30 minutes later. But be sure to take him to the vet straight away. Otherwise, just give him lots of love and encouragement -- these teeny-weenie ones are real charmers! |
solid gold has good food, no corn soy wheat salt or sugar in chesters food, ths is adult food, but check out the puppy food, good stuff. science diet, iams, eukanuba are bad new. Iams has tested on animals so I think that is bad news, vets get a kick back from science diet. |
