lexi is afraid to go for walks all of a sudden.. it took me three attempts last night when i got home from work, she just drove me nuts.. got her all ready 3 times, put her harness on her , her leash and stuff , walked out the gate took 5 steps and she turned around and wanted to go home with her tail between her legs..... whats going on with her... we went back inside and 10 minutes later tried it again, and she would not walk.... finally i carried her up the block and put her down and she didnt know where she was, so she walked around the block and did her business... and she did it again this morning before i came to work... she all of a sudden afraid of noises , cars, trucks .. her tail is always between her legs when she walks.... any noise now scares her when we are outside and she jumps and then that scares the heck outta me.. any suggestions please... she needs to get air sometimes |
Maybe a little ear infection? How long since her last vaccination? |
Maybe take her favorite toy with you two on your walk. Bless her heart, I wonder what scared her. Good idea about having her ears checked...ya just never know. |
funny, I have the same problem with Pepper sometimes... He's all hyper about going for a walk and after a few minutes he looks all scared (there are a lot of trucks where I live :( )), tail between legs and won't move. I ended up having to carry him a few times as well.. He run likea mad man around the little backyard I have and inside the house. Have no clue though what might be the deal with him and your baby... |
she is all updated with her vaccinations, i make sure of that... ear infection?? i dont think so... it dont seem to be bothering her... you know what?, maybe shes cold or something... i dont have her coat on her yet because she fights me with that too.... .. and when i do get her all bundled up and put her leash and her harness on her and i get dressed, its gets me so mad that i waste my time and she wont walk... oooooh i get so mad ........ its like shes missing something at home, like my b/f....but hes not there..,... she runs in back into the house through every room looking for him.. she doesnt fight him though... |
hmmm..thats a little odd. SOmething must have scared her. A loud noise or something recently. |
I have the same problem w/ Maggie... at home when I take her harness and put it on her she's all happy and jumping around, but the time we cross the street to go to the park she stops squats and gets scared and looks at everything around as something is gonna attack her... in the end I take her in my arms and finish the walk... So weird... Katiuscia & Maggie...:aimeeyork |

How old is Lexi now? She may be going through the secondary fear stage. As far as being spooked - dogs are funny. They, apparently, are very superstitious. A car honked it's horn at the same time that pup stepped on something sharp, therefore leaves are scary (they might hurt your paw). Mom was looking the other way and jerked just a little too hard on the leash at the same time the leaves were blowing. Therefore, there is no telling what Mom might do to you when the leaves are blowing. You get the idea. In other words, you may never know what spooked your pup. As a general rule, though, I'm told it's best to "jolly them along" and not pick them up and molly-coddle them. I wouldn't go back inside when she acts afraid; she might interrupt that to mean "I'm right. It is scary out here. Even Mom has to go back inside to work up her nerve." Pay her no mind when she acts afraid. Instead reward calm, cooperative behavior. |
she is 19 months..... my b/f seems to think that it will be different when he walks her , so we shall see.. he is coming right over after work to try and walk her... if he succeeds, i will have a heart attack..... maybe she feels more secure with him... she does miss him though when he is not around.....she doesnt relax |
