its so nice to see such information here. most "breeders" in South Africa too promote "teacups" but i do think its a little worse here, as the "standard" size is around 4/5lbs for yorkies here. when people see ziggy they say: "he's so cute, if only he were a little smaller he would be a teacup, but you'd only have him a few years"!.... Firstly lemme say, Ziggy is 3lbs, that's considered small here yes, but NOT "teacup" it makes me sad because these so-called real teacups are so accepted here and people are ok with their low life span. I hope more South African's join this site and read up on the dangers. I try to educate when people ask, but sometimes people just dont care to hear. thanks for the post |

1. Is your bitch atleast 5lbs.,? If not why would you breed a Yorkie with so many risks involved? 2. Are your breeding pups health tested? If so for what? 3. Can I have a copy of the contract and health guarantee to get information from YT or better yet, my lawyer before the final purchase. Theres more... but I'm sure your reading here about all those things. You can never be to careful. If your pups mom is under 5lbs. theres a strong chance, a definite chance your dealing with an unethical breeder, hopefully thats not the case. If it is the case you may want to reconsider. The health of these pups that are born to moms under 5lbs. is always a concern. I'm so glad you found YT before you got your pup. Feel free to ask any and all questions, educate yourself. Also, please, please, please read as much info as you can. Welcome to YT and Good Luck! |

The breeder is a family friend so I hope these things aren't the case. The dog is half paid for & my daughter visits him regularly at the breeders house until he is ready, so I will still be purchasing him as I couldn't turn round & say we're not getting him now :( I will however be letting the breeder know that there is no such thing as a mini yorkie and will be keeping a tight eye on him once he's home here... If there are any issues I won't be long in banging on their door as they only live down the street... Cheers for the info |

Hi!! Just wanted to add that you should make sure you take your pup to the vet for a check up as soon as you get it to make sure that it is healthy! Good Luck : ) |
I was just looking at this site and people are advertising teacup Yorkies. I am so thankful for the information that you have posted. |
