Thinking of getting VPI insurance got a Q?? I have looked into lots of different insurance and asked here about a week ago and VPI seems the way to go. I am about to enroll online but have a question. What counts as a "pre- existing" condition? In my case my Boy Yorkie Jake is 3 he has had 2 superficial eye ball scratches from his run ins with my next door neighbours cats (he wont learn) both times 1 vet visit and some pain relieving/antibiotic drops did the trick. He has been neutered. Has had 1 episode of vomitting and diarrea 2 years ago vet said could have been poison, eating something rotten or tummy bug, had injection of antibiotics and anti sickness drug was better in 24 hours. Girl Lily is 5 had 2 litters both with c sections 3 years ago. Was neutered after 2nd section. Had a very mild hernia repair 3 months ago as some fatty lumps had come through a slight internal gap in her c section scar and vet wanted to repair it while it was so small didnt want it to get worse and bowel come through gap and she got really sick. It is now repaired and healed will need no more attention. What out of the above do I need to list under "Pre-existing conditions" Ruthx |
" Hi " I work in an Insurance Company agency and I don't know about dog insurance but here's what they mean by Pre-existing in people. Anything in the past that you have been treated for by a medical doctor, they want to know about. Not that it might exclude you from getting the insurance, but they will probably ask you for your vets name and address. Also, pre-existing clauses are usually only good for a year, so that means that anything that would not be paid for the lst year, after that it would be covered. I'd ask them how long the Pre-existing clause is good for. Hope this helps you. :) Rudys Mom:aimeeyork (Dawn):animal-pa |
You could call VPI and ask them there helpful. |
Cheers guys, Gave them a call they were brilliant no problems the only thing they noted was the eye scratch Jake had, for the next 6 months they wont cover anything directly related to the eye scratch he had 2 years ago but will treat any new eye condition. Paid my premium and they will be covered 14 days from now 12 December which is great as my uk insurance runs out 27th Dec. They will also cover anything with the dogs relating to our flight from Scotland to NJ as I have told them about it, it never cost anything more. Ruthx |
I'm glad they were so helpful! I just got it for Howie 2 months ago and I feel so good knowing we have it. |
