Going Abroad. need advise
 
I know this seems like a long way away, but I am an ex-travel agent and so like to plan ahead.
My Husband and I are planning a trip to the UK next Jan. or Feb. and we will be gone for 3-4 weeks. YT, Trish has given me information on taking Jack into the UK, which now does allow dogs from the USA. I stay with family and friends there, so that would be no problem. The problem is even though he is tiny the airline would put him in cargo, and I can't stand the thought of him travelling for 12 hours like that.
None of my kids are able to take care of him, either small children, too many animals, or live too far away.
Do any of the YT members that live in SW Missouri, NW Arkansas, or NE Oklahoma, Tulsa area, know of a good place to leave Jack for this amount of time. My little town has one kennel, but there is no way I would leave him there.
My Husband can't believe I am already worrying about this, but I won't go if I can't leave him with someone I can trust. My family will just have to come here.

It is tough to put them in cargo, but it probably won't be 12 hours to UK. From NYC it is only a 5 hour flight, maybe add 1 or 2 hours from where you are? I think that is a small amount of time compared to leaving him somewhere that you are not familiar with for 3-4 weeks. Be careful with the travel laws for dogs, they are very specific and if not followed to the T, your doggie can still end up in quarantine. Good Luck!

If I fly direct our of St. Louis it is only a 7 hour flight, and there would be no changes. I will need to get the microchip installed, and make sure all the shots are up to date. My other problem is it will be mid winter, and the airlines really are strict on temperatures while on the ground.
I am still going to see if I can find someone here that will take him, but it will have to be someone I can trust. Thank you for your advise, I have a few months to work on this, but my family in England want me for a visit, so I will have to decide soon.
