Advice? Gracie is 7 1/2 months and has been eating Nutro Natural Choice Puppy for a few months now. I was wandering how much those of you whose pups are around 3.5 - 4 lbs eat each day. I dont feel like she is eating enough and i find she is skinny. i dont know if she just doesnt like it very much or what ? Any Advice? |
well i'm not sure i have advice.. but there are days when layla will maybe eat a few pieces of food... each time i fill her bowl.. it's with 1/4 cup of food... on good days she MIGHT... eat 3/4 of what is in her bowl... however in the morning she gets 1 tsp(ish) of wet dog food with her Missing Link and i feel better knowing that she at least has that in her for the day... layla is also big on eating at night time.. around 6-8 she will usually eat the most.. or after crazy activity... but yesterday was a lazy day (i'm ear deep in teacher's college applications) so because she didnt do much.. she didn't eat much... hope that helps! |
noone else ??? |
did you try searching past threads to see if you can find your answer? what does your vet say? i think if your pup is energetic.. playful.. pooping and peeing normally.. then whatever she is intaking throughout the day is enough for her. but you might want to run it by your vet. or try the wet food thing.. i know that if layla eats nothing else during the day.. she at least has that in her! occassionally i also give her a piece of apple (no skin) or a carrot.. on the days where she isn't particularly hungry... just as a snack! |
one more thing.. what brand of food are you feeding her? |
Taylor is now 8 months old. He was eating the dry Nutro Max Puppy food mixed with on teaspoon of the Nutro Max Puppy moist...but not eating very much. We happened to be in a pet store that had a representative handing out free samples of Royal Canine. They gave us several small sample bags of the Royal Canine Puppy dry food. I added some to Taylor's bowl and he really started showing a big interest in eating again. I found he was picking out and eating the Royal Canine. I slowly began to switch him over. Now I don't give him any moist....just the Royal Canine Puppy dry. Our vet said that it is a good brand and that was fine for him. When he is older I will switch him to the Royal Canine Yorkshire Terrier dry food. I don't know if this will work better for you but it sure did for Taylor. |
