2 problems The first problem is house training, my new yorkie is 4 months old and I am using a pee pad, which when I put her on it (at all the right times I read about) she goes. But she is going alot in between and when I don't see her. Also she won't poo on the pad. I have tried everything the books say but nothing works including being outside with her for an hour or so and she won't go outside. Even taking her for a walk. Most the time she pees when she comes in. The second is she barks at me when I'm on the computer, because I do some work at home on my computer, I say no and bad girl and ignore her. It works for awhile then she comes back and starts again. She will stop if you pick her up and look in her eyes and say no, if you can catch her. (She runs from you when you get up from your chair.) By the way, she does not like her crate, especially if you are at home. :( |
New puppy training takes quite a bit of patience. Their bladder control usually isn't fully there until 6 months or so. Also, being stern and lots of lavish praise can help them learn. We didn't teach our Yoda to poopoo on the pads so I don't know what would work for that... |
My pups are also 4 months old and I am in the process of housebreaking them. They do pretty well with it, but I have noticed that when we take them for a walk they will not go potty. They wait until we get back home then go in their normal designated spot outside in the yard. I think it has to do with their scent... it draws them back to that same spot. That may be why you are having a problem with her not always using the pee pad everytime. If she has potty someplace else, she can smell that she has went there before and may think it is ok to go there again. If you can locate the spot try a good carpet cleaner on that spot. There have been a couple of posts on here regarding how to make your own solution out of peroxide, baking soda and Dawn dish liquid. I have tried this and it does seem to remove the pee smell. As for the barking issue, what I would do is get a spray bottle full of water and keep it by your computer desk. When she starts barking at you- give her a blast. It will get her attention fast, but it will not hurt her at all. After reading about this technique here on YT I am now a firm believer in the power of water. If you can catch them in the act of some undesirable behavior, a squirt of water gets the point across real quick. Since this is happening next to your desk and you are the object of her attention it should be easy to correct. One of my yorkies will pester me when I am at my computer also. She doesn't bark but she will bounce off my leg every minute or so, she's like a child- trying to get my attention. "Look at me, look at me!!" |
Thanks for responding. I do clean up the rug accidents with Woolite pet cleaner. It works great and has a good smell to it. She goes mostly on the linolium in my computer room. Those are the ones I don't see her do. That gets mopped up, so she should not be smelling that. This is the room she poops in also. I tried the squirt bottle yesterday for a different barking issue, it worked so so. But she has not barked at me on the computer today at all. hummm? :) |
