Girl Or Boy? Help!
 
Heya,

Myself and my partner just purchased an 8 week old pure bred 5 generation yorkie and the breeder informed us the dog was a girl, on arriving home however we noticed she has a ball right above her anus and its squashy to the touch, we are not sure if this is normal for a female breed or if we have in fact got a boy, could anyone tell us how we decipher which sex our yorkie is. At the end of the day we dont really mind as Boo (her name) is wonderful! :)

If she were a boy she will have a penis going up her belly. The little girls just have a little nub between their legs and her belly will be smooth with only teets showing. Have you had her to the vet to get the lump looked at?

Thankyou ever so much for the picture and your post. I can see from the picture Boo is definately a girl :).

Boo came from a little farm in the south west of England 3 days ago, she shakes a lot when we go out and is not in the mood for going on her leash she prefers to sit in my handbag of all places, is it normal for her not to eat and drink a lot? also she tends to eat her poo which I have never seen a dog do before and she rubs her bottom across the carpet kinda bum shuffles acros s the room is all this normal for a puppy her age?

She is cleaning her bottom. I wipe my little ones with unscented baby wipes after they potty. Don't let her eat her poo. Unfortunetly it is hard to say at how regular her feedings were at the breeders and that might be a habit she got into when she was hungry. Just keep food down for her and try to catch her after she potties. If you have a scale weigh her to make sure she gains.

Boo needs her bottom secreted
 
Since Boo is dragging her bottom and she has a "squishy bump" she probably has full anal glands. This is normal, they just have to be secreted by a vet or groomer. You can also learn to do it, but the glands really smell. The procedure is like popping a pimple - a stinky pimple.

I took Boo to the vet today for her 10 week vaccination and the vet looked at her "anal gland" he didnt say anything about it and ive just got in the door now so ill mention it to him in two weeks when her next jab is due, thanks for that I think ill let the vet pop the sac heh specially if its smelly!
