Was it finally decided ............ If it was ok to give our babies a bit of turkey? |
lol..this is an interesting question. I would like to know even though we don't eat turkey at my house for thanksgiving. |
I've got to believe turkey is okay as the several of the top super premium dog food manufacturers use it as a main ingredient (Merrick's & Natural Balance are two of them). I do know that the dark meat of the turkey is very high in fat, but have always thought the white meat was very low.... |
I am giving mine each a small portion of white meat turkey -- no bones, no fat, no skin, and no gravy. They will have to pass on the pumpkin pie though -- no loose stools here! |
My dogs will get turkey. They always have (for some 65 years now - this includes all the dogs I have every had). I have never had one get sick. But like any great food that they love and would eat until they burst - I make sure they get a sensible amount. I mentioned in an earlier post - that a lot of feel "uncomfortable" after eating too much on Thanksgiving.... so I'm sure if we let our dogs eat all they wanted, they wouldn't feel so good either. Anyway - my dogs will definitely eat Turkey - and probably have some every day for the next week or so - at least! (I cut up and freeze the leftovers for them -- and for my cats also).
