car sick I need help last week i drove up to Nashville to visit my sister, now i knew from previously hampton gets car sick really bad, so i went to petsmart to ask them if they had a medicine to stop the vomitting. well they suggested that i give him childrens benadryl, i asked them if it would definatly stop him from throwing up they said yes, well of course it didnt work about an hour into driving hampton became sick in his crate and threw up. I had to get off the freeway and clean it up, well i gave him some more benadryl he stopped throwing up but he was drooling a lot (hampton never drools) it was so bad he was very wet on his coat from drooling. When we were coming back home it seemed like it was worse; but he threw up a lot and the benadryl did not work. If anyone could please please help me i would appreciate it, I have to go back up to Nashville today and Hampton, has to come with me and of course i will be going home to Cali for X-mas and i can not have him vomitting everywhere does anyone know a for sure for sure way to get him to not puke? and why he has car sickness so bad? |
Go to a natural foodstore and get Bach's Rescue Remedy. It's made for human but you can give it to your yorkie. I give Maggie about a drop in her mouth... it does the trick. She use to vomit and get really bad car sick now she's fine. |
I had a dog who would always get car sick, until I learned that it was mostly nerves that were causing it. It seemed that if one of us sat in the back seat with him on our lap, he was fine, no sick-up. It was just when he was alone in the back that he got sick. I know it's not a great idea to NOT have them buckled in, but I prefered to hold him for the whole trip rather than clean up puke! :p Besides, it was great cuddle time for both of us! |
Try some pepto. :) I just came from Nashville on Monday. |
Lucy always got car sick until I started giving her Rescue Remedy about 30 minutes before leaving the house. She may drool a little bit, but she doesn't throw up anymore. |
I heard you can try ginger snaps before you leave |
My Pia gets sick also. Her little tongue I swear is out the entire trip. She just pants and won't calm down. I drive from Hagerstown MD to Pittsburgh PA (about 3 hrs) to go see my family and I swear she won't calm down during the entire trip. I even hold her and she still gets so worked up and evetually throws up. It breaks my heart to see her like that. My other two babies sleep the entire trip with no problems at all. I'm going to take some of the suggestions on here. Thanks:) |
