Long Thick Coat Hi, I just got another yorkie today, well be posting pics later on but any how, she is 7 mths old weighs about 4 + pounds and has very beautiful hair but she has soo much of it. It is thick but soft and silky. She is very black with red gold around face and legs. My question is I still want her hair long but just not so much of it. I will be taking her to the groomers soon but I don't know how to tell them to cut it without screwing it up. How can I tell the groomer to remove some of the bulkiness in it, do I tell her to texturize as we humans call it. I myself have alot of hair and very thick so I just tell my stylist to thin it out. Is that the same thing for dogs? You can't even tell she has a tail cause she has so much junk in the trunk with all that hair:eek: .Her hair is about 2 inches from touching the floor already and she still a pup. She does have a wave to it and has no signs of silver on her back just very seldom on her head like I said she is jet black on her back, around legs and chest So for all you yorkie owners that are familiar with this type of hair , how do I cut it without cutting it off. Please help................ Thanks Mimi |
1 Attachment(s) My Chanel is the same way - she had very long hair even as a puppy - but it's too much for me to keep upwith... so I use a de-matting comb to rake thru it and thin it out - it keeps the length but cuts down on volume. The whole key is try to comb under the top of the hair - like her face area - I hold up the really long side hair and try to thin only under her chin - it really makes a difference you have to be very careful with this comb....try NOT to touch the skin even though it has rounded edges - the prongs are sharp in the insides of the blades |

I WISH I had this problem! LOL Abbie's coat is so very fine, she hardly has any hair! Though we don't have matts, it's also hard to keep bows in. :( |
Would love to see a picture... :D Sounds beautiful though.....do you have pics???? |
