Suprisingly, Oliver let me do it and it was GREAT! Yeah!! Oliver let me cut his nails!! Ever since having a large disagreement with the vet that does my grooming I have resolved not to take him back. While deciding if I want to find another or do it myself Oliver needed a nail trim. So... I bought the trimmers and the styptic powder and went at it!! He was actually (SURPRISINGLY!) good while I did it after his bath. No bleeding, no yelps, no complaining! I'm hooked- it's easier than i thought (I was so afraid to attempt it myself) YEAH! Just wanted to share!! |
lucky you, i wish i could do that....   great job.. |
Good job! maybe I'll try that someday... but I'm not ready yet  |
Good for you. Wish you were closer I would have you do Buddy's:D l'm still scared to do it. Especially since a groomer made him bleed and he carried on he is totally afraid and screams now. Congratulations. |
I'm starting to do this myself this past weekend. Especially after Adonis had one break way too short for me to mess with. Both of mine let me do this. I was shocked myself. I just got the clippers this past Saturday. My vet said Adonis really didn't need his trimmed. I suppose the huge concrete back porch I have keeps his down a good bit, somehow. I'd never trimmed his and he's 5 years old! But I will start doing this when needed. I know Venus's nails looked like cat claws! And she'd scratched me several times trying to get on my shoulder to sit. Several suggested doing this after bathing. That way the nails are soft, and they don't hear that "click". Glad you got the nerve to try this too! It was scary for me at first, but I know now, its something I can do. |
That is great! WAY TO GO!!! Mojo has finally let me trim his (once).....and he was really good. I think he would let me do it again if I needed to. I was afraid too of cutting them too short or hurting him. BUT, I didn't either! My vet will do it free, so I normally just have them do it while we are there! Might as well, huh? |
