The Little Dictator of the House... Does any one else have a little dictator running around the house? Daisy is 8 months, about 3 1/2 pounds, but yet she insists upon ruling over both of our approximately 20 lb cats. If the cat for should go anywhere near her water or food bowl, oh my gosh it is all out war. And gosh forbid they should happen to walk anywhere in the vincinity of where she may have hidden a treat. She becomes an alter ego of herself, no more misses nice sweet pup. The fangs come out with the all out growling & barking, and then they're off...she takes off like a little speed demon chasing them out of her turf and back into the bedroom. Occassionally, she'll come running back in retreat being chased by the cat, but usually she is victorious. She even has the nerve to chase them when they go near their own bowls when the mood strikes her. This morning she was off on a tangent, when she made a minor boo boo. She evidently didn't notice the glass doors were open on the entertainment center as she was beginning to chase and terrorize the cat. All you heard was BANG and yelp, (oh no). Rushing into to her she shook her head and then took off again after them. I think the cat had a laugh after that one, but Daisy didn't and neither did we. Thank goodness she was ok and only slammed the glass door into the dvd player - which by the way will now not open the drawer to eject our dvds - Any else have a tiny terror? |
Welcome to YT and yes, we have one like that too!! :) I think Toto believes that is her job!! ;) |
How funny! I'm glad she wasn't hurt! When you think that over...is it in cartoon???? :D |
Wakko Yorkie!! My Keisha who is 1 1/2 yrs old does the same thing, so she doesn't go crazy with her treats I make sure she doesn't hide them so i watch her when she gets close to done i take away from her, that seems to have stopped the aggression, we don't have cats but we have an older sheltie who she is always trying to boss around, we tell her to stop and clap our hands and tell her to be nice she doesn't like to get yelled at so this seems to be working. Hope this helps!!! |
Jack rules!!! or at least he thinks he does. I have a chow/golden retriever mix that is 15 years old, Jack (6 months)barely reaches his knees. Jack nips at Homer's feet, and Homer flicks him off, Jack tries to jump at Homer's face and Homer just walks away as if to say "get this flea off of me". Jack stands by his bowl of food and won't let Homer get anywhere near it, not that Homer even wants that puppy stuff, he is a MAN. This Napoleon trait is so funny, they think they are giants. |
When you do look back it is like a cartoon at times. Our house guests go nuts laughing when they see her acting up, they think she is quite the piece of work. We no longer use the "Pssst" sound to the cats when they are doing something wrong. The "pssst" is a BIG trigger for her. She immediately becomes the terror. If you even do the sound when a cat is nowhere in site she will go bananas barking and running around the house trying to locate the cat. We've been trying to hold her now and tell her "no" when we see a hissy fit starting. It is amazing how much energy emits from such a tiny, little body! |
That's so funny...My little guy doesn't go nuts over cats, but when he decides he wants to play, he starts running laps through the house...it's the funniest thing to watch. I have to make sure he's not going to run into anything because he won't stop until he's ready. lol :) |
My Shelbie (RIP) kept our Dalmation in line, she would take his treats away from him, and stand by the food bowl daring him to come near. If he disobeyed her in any way, she would bite his butt. He used to run from her so fast while she was chasing him nipping his butt that his hind legs looked as if they were passing up his head. It really was funny to watch because Scooby could have bit her head off, but he always was way too scared of her. :) |
Pip chases Jess our cat but I think Jess provokes him and must enjoy the chase :D |
