Microchipped Question I had Daisy chipped alittle over a week ago. They put tissue glue over the area. I dropped her off at the groomers and I asked if he could get the glue off. He just called and said that the area is red and irraitated. Should I take her to the vet? The vet said there has nver been a reaction in 8 years that they have been doing the chips. I have to admit that i tried to take the glue off myself by pulling it off (I know not good) and I'm sure that irritated it. What do you think? |
I'd leave it alone. If you *just* got it done, and it's red...no worries, sounds normal to me. If she seems bothered by it or it's swollen (depending where he placed it you may be able to feel the chip under the skin-don't mistake that for swelling), warm to the touch for more than an hour- THEN I'd take her in. Otherwise I'd leave the glue and the injection site alone. Worse comes to worse and you're concerned, I'd wash that area w/ a mild detergent and rinse really well. The gauge needle they use to microchip is somewhat larger than that of a vaccination needle, so if your Yorkie is particularly small or has thinner skin, it's often necc. to use dermal glue. |
That glue is supposed to be left alone, you can't go picking at it. Of course the area is all red now, the glue has been pulled off:( The groomer, in my opinion, should know better! I'd just keep the area clean, and call the vet and ask if you can put anything on it to soothe it. I hope that Daisy feels better soon:love: |
You know what? I just realized that you said this happened a little more than a week ago? I'd NOT pull the glue off, but rather, just wash that site w/ a mild detergent and rinse really well. Call your vet. He might have done just the same and just charged you for it. ;) |
The groomer did NOT touch it. I had him look at it and he called to said it was red but I figured it was because I was trying to pull it off. She's chipped between the shoulder blades. I will leave it alone and let it grow out. Thanks for the quick reponses. |
I had mine chipped 11 days ago but they never used any kind of glue. Just inserted it with a needle. No problems whatsoever. Guess I was just lucky. Hope yours is OK! |
Can you put peroxide on it or something? |
