No nastier than Madonna, Christina Ag, Lil Kim, Pink, Lil Sista (etc etc), or even Snoop Dogg!!! They are entertainers and have done a doggone (no pun intended) good job of it - or we wouldn't be discussing them! </IMG> |
oh I can see it now. Super BLING chains for your dog. Only the hottest shiny fugly jackets around! lol I'll definately be keeping my eye out to see what these look like! |

I couldn't agree with you more!! On top of it all I can't stand any of them either. Not what I would call good role models. Well lets just say they don't fit MY idea of what a good role model should be. |

YOU might think she's nasty, but she's obviously smart and doesn't care what others think. That's why I think she's awesom! |

Britney, IMO, isn't half as bad as some of what's out there. She's no Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton who are out there with sex tapes and constant rumors of drug overdoses and hardcore partying. The girl obviously wants a family and a stable life or else she wouldn't have gotten married and had babies so young. I mean, the marriage didn't work out, but at least her engagement/marriage wasn't for publicity's sake like Paris. Sorry this is kind of off-topic, but I had to put my two cents in!! |

The sad truth is that most 9 year olds do listen to her music among others. Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton are no role models either. I don't care who she is or what she does. However, when you are in the spot light then it stands to reason that kids of all ages will look up to you(Even if you don't want them to). Even if the kids don't listen to her music they look at how she carries herself and how she dresses. I won't apologize for saying that I don't feel she is any kind of role model. When you have a 9 year old you will see exactly what I mean. They hear and see way more than you want them too. Yes, it is up to us as parents to find good role models. Believe me I do, and not allowing brittney's music among others in my house is the way I control that. My daughter knows a little girl who is 8 and she listens to 50 CENTS !!! My point is that a lot of young children listen to her and others that they have no business listening to. So when she is asking for the public's money (buying her music) then she opens up herself to being judged. Especially by us parents! |

Who cares what they listen too? When I was 8 I was listening to Dr. Dre, Tupac, Snoop and they rapped about a lot worse things then 50cent (no S). I turned out fine, I'm not in any gangs, don't do drugs, and don't kill people, or any of the other negative stuff they rapped about. Also, at that age a lot of what they hear in the songs goes in one ear and out the other. I remember not getting the analogies when I was younger, and I would think "what a wierd thing to sing about". Or maybe my mom just did a good job in raising me and teaching me right from wrong...yeah I think that's it. Of course a lot of people are going to judge people in the spotlight, it's human. Rather your in the spotlight or not, your going to get judged by others. It's a fact of life. The thing I admire Britney about though is that she doesn't care. When she first hooked up with Kevin the world was disgusted, but she still flaunted her love for him. She's not easily influenced by the public opinion. How many others can say that (celebs and non celebs)??? |

TO each their own but my child won't be listening to any kind of music that sings or raps about... killing people, doing drugs, joing gangs, having sex ,and so on.... |

Who wants a 8 or 9 year old talking about "I'm into having sex, I'm not in to making love...(50 cent)" or "I'm a slaaave 4 you...(Britney)". I am sure there are worse lyrics and no matter what WE listened to as kids...it just doesnt SEEM like it's half as bad as what's out there TODAY. I grew up to listening to 70's and 80's music...and I still enjoy listening to it. Nothing like boppin to some Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson (Beat It days!!), Phil Collins...boy I could name more. Makes me want to get the TAPES out!!! Who did I miss?? :D |
