Its about TIME!!! We lost our Chloe (Lhasa Apso) at 10 month to Greenies. After Chloe is when we got Maddie. It was terrible. Chloe was an awesome little dog who was loved very much. So all of you out there keep spreading the word about Greenies. Hopefully we can save another dogs life!

Great post. I didn't know about Chloe. I am so sorry to hear that. It is about time they look into Greenies...JUST SAY NO TO GREENIES!

Wow, I'd bought something similar for Adonis's teeth....and can't seem to find them now, lol. I'd recently purchased Petzlife, and now am using that for his teeth.

Do you think booda bones are basically the same as greenies? I hope not cause I just bought two yesterday and they have eaten part of them.

I dont know why they just dont ban them and get it over with!

My friend penny had to rush Ellie her baby Yorkie to the vet yesterday, she was chocking on a piece of greenie! they were able to get it down and gave her a shot and some meds to make her contract to pass it.

These things are NOT safe, please be careful if you give them to your baby!

I'm so sorry about Chloe. So is the problem with Greenies that they choke on them? Or is it that they swallow pieces that don't digest? Either way, I'll pass on the warning to friends with dogs. Thank you for the info.

It is about time! I can't believe they waited this long to be honest. The makers of the Greenies had to have known they messed up. If not then they wouldn't have "changed" their formula.

Chloe ate them with no problem... Well actually she love love loved them. They one Sunday morning she got sick and there was a big chunk of a greenie in it... I didnt think anything about it, just thought she ate it too fast... She acted fine all day and threw up a few more times. She had all her energy and acted normal... Well by the next morning she was not her self at all week, etc. I rushed her to the vet and the Greenie has abstructed her intestines and cause them to burst. It was so terrible. There was nothing they could do for her. She was too weak for surgery and they said she was in alot of pain. We had to have her put to sleep. It was so hard and so terrible.

One of the vet clinics that I took Little Bit to when I was vet shopping, has a display of them on the counter for purchase.:confused:

I stopped greenies when my yorkies had bloody stools. I threw them all out. My friends who also breed yorkies threw out theirs too.

We also tossed the Greenies after a terrifying trip to the ER Vet one night! Toto was addicted to them and had to have one after dinner every single day. She started choking & went limp! I grabbed Toto, Patrick grabbed keys to the nearest vehicle ... I didn't know a Jeep Wrangler could go that fast! Fortunately, she was breathing when we got there and was OK. I gladly chunked a box of 100, individually wrapped Greenies in the dumpster! The really sad thing was what she went through quitting those things cold turkey. It was almost as if she were in pain and she would cry so pitifully. Nothing we offered her would make her stop and we went through this for a week or two! I don't care if the Greenie people change their formula a bzillion times, I will never buy another product from them! :(

When we 1st got Misha we gave her some. She loved them, but she was sick for 2 days after. We never gave them to her again. Good thing. Thanks for posting this. I sent the artical to all my friends with pets.

I'm so sorry that Chloe had to go through that- but of course you had no way of knowing something like that could ever happen. Thank you for sharing your story and giving everyone a warning.

A friend told me that they've come up with new ingredients that make it "highly digestible."

Their Web site, greenies.com, says the same thing.

I'll wait to see if there are any complaints.

oh my gosh! i've been giving Kayah Greenies since she was a pup.. she's a little over 1 now... is there anything else i can give her to substitute it?? i've heard YTers talking about bully sticks? where can i get those?? are those ok to give dogs?

Both...Bigger dogs may not have a difficult time swallowing them (depending on the size of the greenie) but they can get lodged in their intestines....they are NOT 100% digestible....to think they would even make something like this!! I give the girls nylabones....they are a very very hard rubber and if they get anything off it is so minute that they wouldn't be able to choke on them..I bought a big bag of greenies...I gave Sadie 1...I read all the bad things that can happen to our furbabies and threw the brand new bag away...
