I swear he's still growing....... My sister and I were laughing this evening. My little Yorkie who was supposed to be between 5 and 10 pounds - was 12 pounds at his last weigh-in and I really think he has gained a couple more pounds since then. His mother was 12 pounds and his father was 4 1/2. He had two brothers from the same litter - one ended up 5 pounds and the other is 7. My sister said I have the "magic touch." A little poodle/pom was given to me. She was supposed to be under 5 pounds....she ended up 26 pounds (and not fat). My Bichon was supposed to be 14 or 16 pounds and he weighs 24 pounds. And now my little Yorkie is on his record-breaking way. AND - none of my dogs are fat. I can say that my Bichon and Yorkie both look like they weigh about half of what they do. The poor vet about broke his back when he lifted my Bichon. He said, "Whoa! what does this guy eat - rocks!!! I would never have expected him to be this heavy - just by looking at him." Oh well - guess my Yorkie is just another miracle in progress at my house. If anyone thinks their dog needs to gain a few pounds - just send them my way - And, I promise they won't be fat - they'll just be solid like a rock! Fun fun! Carol Jean PS: My Yorkie is 14 months old........ |
Youve got a big boy there. More to love. My big boy is 10 lbs |
Solid! Solid? Are you holding "Yorkie Bootcamp" at your house? ........... I am picturing little treadmills...... running thru mini tires.... crawling on little furry bellys..... (actually my little Shelby would love it!... always looking for an adventure.... she is a solid little girl herself!) :yelrotflm :lol tears |
14 months and 12 pounds???? Do you have them on steroids? LOL. I LOVE big Yorkies! Send 'em my way! |
My Keegan kept growing forever, topped out at 12.5 lbs. Do you happen to live in Texas? When you have such a difference in size between the sire and the dam you can sure get a variation of sizes in the pups. :) :) |
mine too Ok I have you beat. Mine is about 14 months and he is BIG! People never believe me when I tell them he is a Yorkie - they just have little bitty on the mind I guess. He weighs about 15 1/2 pounds. He is bigger than I ever thought he would be, but we sure do love him. |
Loki is probably 12 pounds - he was 11 last time he was at the vet. He will be 2 in a few weeks and he has only stopped growing in the last few months. And he is skinny. A sweatshirt I bought him last winter (when he was already 1) was WAY too small for him. He is just very long and tall. The breeder said he would be about 7 pounds. I actually love his size and can still carry him around but he doesn't get lost or stepped on and he can put up with the big dogs at class! |
My Cooper is a shade over 10 lbs too. My son calls him "10 lbs of twisted steel and sex appeal"!! He is not fat either, he is just SOLID, very musclelly (I know that is not a word). Carley who is the same height and length weighs 3 lbs less than Cooper and just looks more dainty. Though he is bigger than originally predicted I am really liking his size, and when I got Carley was glad she wasn't a tiny either! |
Not Sure What To Say I have two boys. One is 9 months old and is right at 5 pounds. He stopped growing about seven months. The other boy, from the same breeder is also 5 pounds and is 7 months right now. Don't really know what the difference is. At 12 weeks they weighed about 2.3 pounds so the doubling the weight at twelve weeks worked about right for me. |
kizzy wasnt suppose to get over 4 lbs. she is now 9 months and 10 lbs. but does these bigger look as big to anyone as their weight sounds. nobody thinks kizzy loos that big and she dont to me either. when their around the tiny dog that makes them probably look bigger, but in actuality, to me its hard to guess their weight. |
I think this thread is funny..when you say all your dogs are supposed to be smaller but all turned out bigger. Are they on growth hormone treatment or something? (just kidding) My Siu Pao is now about 5 months and is 7 pounds and really he doesn't look big at all unless he is standing next to a 3 pounds yorkie. But carrying him in his carrier bag..is another story...I find that my shoulder feels like they are going to break after half an hour :p |
haha this thread is so funny. Tucker was supposed to be around 6-10 pounds or so. He's around 14 1/2 pounds at almost 2 years old. He's not fat, he's just heavy. haha. I was holding Maddie (who's 6 or so pounds) and then I put her down and went to pick up Tucker and almost fell over lol. |
His mother was 12 pounds and his father was 4 1/2. Too funny...must have had to use a stool!!!:lol tears |
I think "love and happiness" make dogs grow...... Carol Jean |
