Sleeping late.. Will Diezel ever do it? Our usual time for waking up has been between 730am-8am. Will he ever just sleep late and not wake me up. Is this something he will grow out of? I sooooooooooo just want to be able to sleep until at least 10am one weekend. Why do I feel like growing up my grandmothers dogs always slept.. am I just making that up in my head because im soooooooo tired :( lol |
We never thought we would be able to sleep in past 6:00 AM....but as Punkin neared 1 year of age she got better and better. Now she is 18 months and we slept in this morning until 10. When I woke up she was happily snuggled up with us, just watching us sleep. |

lol...good luck ...my girls now wake up when I get up but I spent the first 2 years with them waking me up and i get up early normally. He should calm down and just enjoy the puppy phase |
Piccolo wakes me up at 6a.m. I can't wait for him to sleep longer. |
Chachi and Jewels as pups would get up all hours of the night. Now going on 2 they both sleep in. Every once in a while Jewels will wake up about 6 but she just stays on the bed |
when i want to sleep late i take romeo for a long walk before we go to bed. it works. |
Thank u! I am happy to hear he will chill out a little. Nothing makes me happier then to see him running around my bed acting a fool... Maybe I can get my extra hour tomorrow morning and let grandmom be the one to get up since she will be here.. I mean he hasnt seen her in months.. they need qualtiy time  |
Good luck on the sleep thing! My eldest fur baby is almost 4 and I had to fight to stay in bed til 6am. Now that we've had the time change, it's a battle to keep; them quiet til 5am. They just don't get the time change thing. They're totally dead by 9 at night though. ;) ;) |
My little one is a 6am girl too...forget going back to sleep...this morning she was tearing around my room playing with all her toys |
Jo has always been one who will sleep as long as we do but Riley wants everyone to be up around 6 or so. That's fine with me though because I'm usually awake anyway. What I get a kick out of is waking up before Riley so I can wake him up! I know...I need a life! |

I could even deal with Diezel playing around the room but he is on my face until I get out of the bed...lol I really shouldnt complain I cant imagine going back to those quiet lonely mornings! |
I haven't slept past 7 am since before I got Muffin in 1991.:D |
I guess I'm lucky...I brought Topher home at 16 weeks and ever since the first night he's been quite content to sleep in. I have MS and if I'm having a bad day and have to stay in bed, Topher loves nothing more than to sleep, sleep, sleep! He's just a year old. He sleeps every morning away...he'd prefer that we stay in bed but that doesn't happen every day. I'm apprehensive 'cause we're looking for a little gal yorkie....I'm PRAYING that she loves to sleep in, too!! I wish I had some advice, for you. All I can say is that I'd try to keep the schedule that you are comfy with and see if pup will adjust to it over time. |
All of my dogs would sleep forever. I'm a night owl and work at night, etc., - and sleep later than a lot of people. I often get up and let my dogs out for 5 minutes or so (if one wants out) and then they come back in and would sleep for another four hours or more. Plus - most mornings - they just sleep in without having to go outside. Sleep sleep sleep - their favorite thing to do. Carol Jean |
Seymour gets up between 2 and 3 am faithfully....... he is 2 yrs! I think that his "pee bag" is so small he just has to go! ( It probabaly would help if we kept him from drinking water before bedtime.....) Now that he has that habit... I don't know if he will ever sleep thru the night. LIFE with YORKIE.... couldn't be without them!! :yorkiesar |
I wish I could find the answer! This morning Bubba was up at 4:30a-Sissy just looks up and then hides her head under my pillow-she refuses to get up before 6 and I thinf]k she would sleep alot longer if I let her |
I made some pet stairs last month for Adonis. Venus was still sleeping in her crate. She'd wake me 3 times before it was time for me to wake up. Usually the last time, was to play! I gave up, and since she kept going up the pet stairs to the "big bed" and looked so proud and happy to be up there, I started letting her sleep with Adonis and I. She hasn't woke me up since! I get a full nights sleep now:D I haven't found pee on the bed, nor have I found it on the floor. I'm just hoping she's going to her pee pads at night. |
All of my dogs have always woken up really early on the weekends because they were used to waking up early on the weekdays. THey usually slept about 1-2hours later on the weekends, but it was still too early for me. Since someone in the house was usually up, I would just open my bedroom door for them to go out of my room, and whomever else was up would take them potty..I would go back to bed:D Rocky's pretty good about sleeping in on weekends, and weekdays! A couple times a week he'll wake up at like 9, but most of the time he sleeps until I wake up. I got lucky with him! |

How late are you letting him drink? For my parents dog, they don't him any water after either 8 or 9 (can't remember) because then he wakes up at like 3-4am having to pee. |
I swear my babies have internal clocks! All 4 of them wake up early on the weekdays because they know I will be going to work. So by 7:00 AM, everybody is up and running! Thankfully on the weekends, as long as I sleep in, they are right there in bed with me! Jazzy and Mickey (my dogs) will sometimes wake me up on the weekend, to go potty outside. But that is a simple, stumble outside to our fenced in yard and watch & wait for a few minutes for them to do their business. Then we all go back to bed and sleep. As long as I stay in bed, they do also. If I am home from work sick, they also are right there next to me. I think a lot of it has to do with their environment and what they are used to. As long as I let the dogs out to potty when the need arises, all my furbabies are happy to snuggle in bed until I get up for the day. My youngest baby (4.5 month old Yorkie) will sometimes get crazy when everyone is sleeping,so then she goes in the pet bedroom. And she is quite content there running and playing, snacking etc. |
Gracie used to only sleep till 4 or 5 and want to play sometimes earlier i thought she would never sleep late ... thank god i was wrong !!! |
