In Australia do you have preditors that can get your baby? I would be so worried leaving mine outside unattended to |

I keep both of mine in the bed with me, and sometimes they play real hard for a while, but eventually they settle down and go to sleep....It actually cracks me up when they are getting all wild on the bed, wrestling with each other under my arm pit making their cute little "growling" sounds....Louie's growl actually sounds like a little pigeon LOL.....Does your pen outside have a roof over it? because I would be really scared that a big bird of some kind would swoop down and get your baby. I dunno, maybe Im a pushover, but I seem to ALWAYS put their needs before mine. If they keep me awake....then so be it. (Ceasar Milan would think Im nuts Im sure) lol. |

EEK!!!!!!! Obviously there are lots of hawks out there!   |
Please don't ever assume something like a hawk can't carry your baby away. Remember the picture of the huge owl I posted a while back? He was in the tree in our front yard before the sun came up...I had Riley outside and when I saw the owl we went in. He had a duck...yes a duck...with him in the tree that he was having for breakfast. If an owl can take a duck from the lake he can take a Yorkie. Please don't leave your baby unattended...bad things can happen fast! Would it be so bad to have your puppy in bed having playtime for a while? That's a good time to bond and when they get tired of playing you can both take a nap. |
Good point about the hawk........guess I was hoping that it would not be able to "lift" my babies. BUT, I NEVER leave my babies out in the yard by themselves. I'd die if anything like that were to happen to them.:( |
OMG the US is scary! There are no hawks or coyotes in Australia...especially not in suburbia!!!! The scariest bird we have here is a pigeon! There was a pet and animal expo on today and I went and bought her lots of new toys so hopefully she will be ok with them. I normally leave her in the family room in her playpen but she was making so much noise this mornign. I wouldnt worry if it was only me living here but I am a nanny and my family was nice enough to let me have Bailey here so I dont want them to be awake and cursing us every morning! |
Pups need lots of attention, like human babies. They need time to bond too. Toys can't replace human contact sometimes. |
I know it's a drag to be awakened early in the morning, but it's usually just a phase that they grow out of. When I first got Dolce at 12 weeks, she couldn't make it through the night without having to pee, so I would set my alarm for 3:00 am so I could take her to her pee pad. And she woke me up early for a month or two (I can't remember exactly how long), and I just dealt with it. I don't want to be harsh, but unless you want to take her into your bed for some extra sleep time, you may have to suck it up and get out of bed with her in the mornings. I know how hard it is to not get enough sleep, but your pup will be sleeping in before you know it. I really think it's a bad idea to put her outside by herself. If you have no natural predators, what about theft? Plus she must be so lonely and afraid out there. They don't like to be separated from their people. |
Fortunately I dont have to worry about theft....we have a walled courtyard that is very secure (10 foot concrete walls and locked) but anyway Bailey's sleep is improving.....we are no longer waking at 4:30 to pee......and this morning we slept until 6:20am and I woke her up LOL. She is learning to like being outside when I am home and downstairs which is great. |
