Pet weight scales Has anyone purchased a pet scale for weighing their dogs? We want to track the weight of our puppy and then we have an adult dog who has a tendency to put on weight and we want to keep an eye on that. What brand and where did you get your scales? Thanks! |
I don't know about a bigger dog, but for my yorkie I use a small food scale:) . He weighs in now at almost 3 lbs and the scale measures in ounces which is important for me since every ounce counts! |
Pet scales I am looking for a pet scale as well. I put her in my bowl of my food scale but she slips because the bowl is so curved it doesn't work. Please let me know if you find one. Also let me know what size food scale you have and the brand. My yorkie is 4 1/2 months old now and her weight is 2.8 lbs. Thanks |
My scale is by Terraillon and it is flat. My Max sits right on it with no problem. My husband bought it, but I bet you can buy it at any large food or kitchen store. |
I bought a food scale at Walmart. I think it weighs up to 7lbs and there is a little food bowl on top. The bowl is too small for Bella now (she's 4lbs) so I usually put a small box on top, calibrate it, and then weigh her. It was inexpensive and works well. |
I use a postal scale. I put my kids in a basket. It will weigh up to 10 lbs. Does weigh in oz also. Just subtract the weight of the basket. Last time I did it, Jilly weighed 3 lb. 5 oz and Jack was 4 lb. 3 oz. |
Once I used an actual person scale for Rocky. It was off by like 3 lbs (good for me!) but it said that he only weighed 2lbs!!! |
I use a postal scale. Does an excellent job! Takes from .01 oz up to 25 lbs! |

I like this idea. I think next time I visit Wally World I'll pick one up. |
Check out baby scales -- most are fairly accurate to the ounces. Ebay has lots of them. Might even call around to the children consignment shops. But most any vet will let you come in and use their scales -- I don't think to do it, but I know ours does cause I have seen others come in and just get a weight while I am waiting for an appointment. |
Our older dog is around 16lbs, but needs to drop around 3lbs. She went on a special dog food for allergies and it put weight on her! Our vet said we could stop in as well, but he's about 20-25 away and it seemed convenient to have a scale at home. The postal scale or a large food scale with a box on it might work. I checked Babies R Us and they don't even sell baby scales! Thanks! |
