TODAY IS THE DAY!! I'm going shopping..help me with the list. :D Today is the day my little boy comes home. I am about to go shopping for him. I need help with my list. Alright you Yorkie Pros, please help me out. What do I need??:p |
Defintiely some NutriCal (or NutriStat), just in case. Baby blankets (Walgreens actually had some for $1 that were cute and soft Bed Brush and comb Toothbrush (I use a baby toothbrush) and doggie toothpaste X-pen Puppy Pads ( I also got a frame for them to prevent chewing) Food (ask what he's eating now and get some of that) Not necessary (okay, yes they are, lol) but some cute outfits:D Lotsa love, which I'm sure that you have:love: I can't think of anything else right now, but there's bound to be lots of other stuff I missed. Good luck!!!!!!!! |
Everything Luna'sMom said, but I would definitely get a good fitting harness and leash and get started on that process as soon as your baby has all his shots!! Please never use a collar for anything other than just cuteness!! Leashes should always get attached to a harness of some type. Lot of very cute harnesses made here on YT to your babies measurements!!! Also, get a couple chew toys. The rope-type work well for puppy teeth. And, most importantly - GET THAT CAMERA READY!!!! |
what is NutriCal? |
It is a supplement that will help insure they do not go hypoglycemic (low blood sugar). Please read up on Hypoglycemia on here before bringing your baby home. It can mean the difference between life and death if your puppy goes hypoglycemic and you are not aware of the signs and how to get Nutrical or something similar in tohim ASAP. It can be brought about by stress, over tired and other factors. Other than that I think everyone else has covered the necessities. Can't wait to see pics of your little one!!! |
yes yes, the camera!! Don't forget bowls for food and water. And don't forget the foooooood :D Nutrical comes in a little tube incase your baby doesn't eat when you first get hm. It's nutrients so his little body doesn't get sick. Sometimes puppies won't eat at first because of the huge change. It's a JUST IN CASE.. |
One other thing that might help is a heating pad. I used one TONS when we first got Jaxon. You can get the auto-shut off kind at Walmart - it turns off after a couple of hours and you can also adjust the heat setting. We used it under a towel for him and slept on it lots. Now, he still uses that heating pad in one of his beds (no, he isn't spoiled at all ;) ). |
Dont forget 2 bowls (water and food) ! LOL. A mat underneath is very handy, for easy cleanup :) . I know it's soooo easy to go crazy with toys and clothes and forget the necessities. A gentle puppy shampoo and conditioner for the baths, once you decide it's time for the little one's first bath. and enjoy!!:animal36 |
He's only 7 weeks! Is that too YOUNGG??? |
Also, collar/harness and a leash. You don't want him to get away from you. |
That is very young to be taking him away from his mother. Why are they selling them so young? Are they even weaned? Many Yorkshire Terrier breeders will not let their puppies go until they are at least 3-4 months old. Some states have laws saying how old the puppy has to be before it can be legally sold. Sadly some of those laws allow as young as 6-7 weeks but most are over 8 weeks. I found a table of state laws but AL was not listed: http://www.animallaw.info/articles/o...ysaletable.htm Is there any way you can get them to keep the puppy for at least a couple more weeks? Even after they are weaned they learn behavior from their mother. Knowing what a baby I got at 10 weeks, I would be afraid to have one younger away from their mother. If you do bring this baby home this young -- definately have the Nutrical ready and buy one of those little heartbeat pillows. Good luck to you both. |
Check Target out!! They have some really cute things (clothes, dishes, blankies, beds, toys) in their dollar section for $2.50 each. Their are several pictures posted in this link. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58016 |

you can get it from jefferspet.com they are local pet supply in dothan that's less expensive than petsmart check out the webbie if you find something you like write item # down when you get there go to the back and give item #'s they go get it you go up front and pay. also you may need to get a belly band if it's a male and a sweater or jacket of some sort because it gets cold here at night lately. |
I havent seen these listed yet. Carry case for the baby to come home in. I bought a crate for him to sleep in at night. I also bought a water bottle (kind of like a rabbit bottle) That hooks on the out side of the cage. A tube comes into the cage and when they lick the little tube they get water... I put Chewy's food on a bread plate because he was too little to reach his head in the bowl! I used a cat harness cause the dog ones were too big. I think every one has the rest covered.. |
