How about you say YOU'RE going to the video store then walk in with the baby and be like "Look what I found in one of the boxes!!" :p This is certainly going to be a long night for you!! But just think about how much MORE you'll appreciate it tomorrow! :D Congrats! |
Well, I hope you were able to get some sleep, lol~! Today's the day! I'm so excited for you!!!!:dogwalk: :cheer: :yay_jump: |
I went to sleep around...um...1 am!! Ha! I'm going shopping today...what all do I need for the baby? |
Puppy Time! You will need somewhere for the baby to sleep and be out of harm's way. Some go right to a crate or exercise pen. I bought a play pen from Walmart $35. But.... we only used it a very few times. I also bought a little bed -- actually a cat bed. You will need some food -- if the breeder used a high quality food, stay with that...otherwise you may have to transition into what you want, gradually replacing a little of what he has been eating with your choice of quality puppy food. On this same line -- two puppy bowls -- low enough that it is not difficult for him to get into. I wound up using a cat bowl at first. Treats -- for rewards only right now. Mine only gets his treat when he potties outside or is good for a bath. I bought Chicken Jerky Sticks from Walmart -- they are rolled and soft, easy to chew for puppies and older dogs. I just break off small pieces for "Good Boy." Many keep Nutrical on hand for new puppies to ensure against hypoglycemia. If they are eating well, probably no need. But if your puppy is exceptionally small or a picky eater, I would add it to the list. Toys -- start with just a few because you will find yourself buying new toys every trip to the store. It will be only a matter of weeks before you have a huge collection and are picking up toys for 30 minutes at bedtime. :) Puppy pee pads -- even if you start taking the puppy outside, it is good to have one by the door and in the pen. On that same line....a good pet odor/stain remover spray is a must too. There will be a lot of accidents. Bath supplies -- Quality shampoo is really all I start with, detangler and conditioners can wait til his hair grows more. Maybe a book on the breed or puppies in general if it is a first time puppy. That is about all I can think of to start with. Your first vet trip will add some heartworm and flea/tick med. And you will find all manner of things to buy for your puppy as you go along. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Today is the big day!!! |
