Asking for a friend, sick puppy Puppy is 11 weeks old and 4 lbs. She's had him about 5 days. He started having mucous in his poop and diarrhea yesterday and lethargic. She took him to the vet last night and he was tested for parvo which was negative, stool sample was negative for parasites and he was also given iv fluid for dehydration. She was given an antibiotic but was never really told what could be wrong. He ate breakfast but has now been lethargic again. Any ideas?? |
Oh also she thinks he pees too much, like every 25 minutes. My first thoughts were uti or coccidia but I really don't know too much about either of those... |
I have no idea. Whenever I hear of a sick puppy, I automatically think parvo, but I'm glad to hear he's negative from that. Maybe it's just a virus, like a flu or something you know, that he can overcome. He'll be in my prayers. |
Kayah had that, we were never told what it was either.. but we gave her medecine.. cooked chicken breast with white rice and mixed Gerber chicken and vegetables for her.. she was really sick for 3 days.. but was droopy for a week.. finally, with a lot of belly rubs.. she got better |
I know after eating a regular (high protein) meal, dogs with liver shunt will be sick with a variety of symptoms, dizziness, lethargy, weakness, lack of balance, diarrhea is also one of the symptoms. That should be considered. |
Here's one of many links Increased urination is also on it. Hopefully that's not it, but I'd get a Bile Acid test done if they don't have any answers. http://www.earthsangels.com/html/livrshnt.shtml |
