I don't have two yorkies but I do have three dogs which is a bit more than I wanted to handle. However I will ALWAYS have two dogs. Eventually they will both be yorkies. My shih tzu was always a shy dog (puppy mill rescue) and would avoid other dogs (other than Ivan) like they were all out for her blood. When we got Adie it took about a week and they were best buddies. Adie really drew her out of her shell. Having more than one dog gives you a rest and it is entertaining as heck when they get going. Nope I don't regret it at all! |
I must say that all these positive comments really do make me feel alot better about our decision. I'm just hoping that the new pup has a good disposition like Topher...he's such a doll. Also, when I go out I take Topher with me much of the time. I'm going to have to leave him home more once I get the second one, 'cause I'm not going to be able to take two with me. I just have so much going through my mind. lol I know that once I get that little one in my arms, though, all negative thoughts will disappear! Thanks everyone for your comments. It sure does help! :) |
No regrets, it's so nice when they have someone to play with. |
Honestly....I do regret it. Don't flame me! Gracie is 2 (today!) and she's the quietest, sweetest, most loving little thing. Griffin turned 1 last month, and he is just a holy terror. I really hate to say this, but he annoys the crap out of me. He's so hyper it drives me nuts. He's like a little spaz...he's constantly jumping and barking and there is never a moment's peace with him. I thought it would be a good idea having a playmate for Gracie but honestly, if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have gotten him. He's cute and all that, but because of his wild personality I have not bonded with him at all. He's AKC registered but I swear, he's got something wrong with him mentally. Sigh. Sorry, hope you all don't rally against me! |
And let me just add something, contrary to what my status here says, I am not a newbie! I came here almost 2 years ago when I first got Gracie, and I was posting last year when I got Griffin. I lost my user name and password and had to re-register, thus it looks like I'm new but I'm not. |
I had Mayzie first-she will be one in just a few weeks. I aquired Mo in August he had just turned 3. Mayzie is my wild child and Mo is just about perfect. He has been an excellent addition. He didn't interact much in the beginning, never touched toys. But now they just play and chase each other. It is a real hoot. I don't regret for a second. I agree with some of the others, having 2 makes me want 3! lol |
I don't regret it at all.... the work is double!!! That much is true... In fact... I have managed to double it all!!! Paris has double the coat compared to Pixie... Double the energy! Double the tongue! lol And double the personality! She is also double the work!! And we do have the jealousy bit between them... and Pixie has decided that she has somehow earned the right to every bully stick in this house!!! Oh! And everything Paris touches is Pixies! And she will let everyone in the house know it!! But I must say... it has made out home so much more colorful!!! I would not have it any other way!!!! Two is perfect!!! |

Is Griffin fixed? I know Hobbs calmed down substantially a few months after having him fixed. |
no they play and keep each other company |
No regrets at all! Gracie was a little jealous of Charlotte for a few months, but at the same time she mothered her. She would bathe her and snuggle with her! The sweetest thing ever! Now they cant get enough of eachother, they act just like sisters, they love on eachother and play fight with eachother!! I couldnt imagine it any other way! Go for it!!! |
not only do I have 2 yorkies, I have 3 others too! I LOVE my little "herd"... my first Yorkie, Tootie, is such a BLAST! HE is huge at 16 lbs and has the best personality ever! My baby, Hopey, is the sweetest little thing ever. She is much more shy than him, but is such a mommy's baby. They have a good time, playing and wrestling together.. it is almost funny how they stick together more than the other 3 and play with each other more.. I wouldnt change my herd for anything! I have the best of all worlds... d |
I really wish I did this years ago. The only time I wonder if I make the right choice is potty training, and accidents. Pulling my hair out with the new baby on the potty training. Other than that, I wish I did this for Adonis many years ago. |
I don't regret having 2 babies.....twice the love and puppy kisses :) |
We have four and it's wonderful! |
I did regret it... For about a week! We had 8 cats. (!) We went to the breeder to go pick out a Yorkie puppy. We couldn't decide between the boy and the girl. We were there for hours. From past experience, 2 kittens was a god send, they wore each other out. So we thought 2 puppies would be just as good. Then we got home. I almost immediately had that 'what have done feeling?' Lucy was all over the place, excited as she could be and a REAL handful. A huge dog in a 2lb body. I was overwhelmed. Our first dogs. What had we done? We contacted the breeder the next day and "all sales were final" We put a few ads up on the internet for Lucy and had a very few offers, but none that would even give us our money back ($700) which is all we were asking. We got some nasty emails about being dog traffickers (wtf?) I explained in all honesty what had happened and i was being accused of making a business of reselling puppies... hm. Whatever. I was so pissed at the nasty emails, and the pathetic chew down offers, I said screw it, we're keeping her. And I can't imagine life without her. She is areal pistol. 2 of her would be way TOO much. 2 Tuckers would be boring, he's a shy guy. 1 of each is just right. The potty training bit is the absolute worst part, and even thats not so bad really. You just learn to live on less sleep. Somehow. Teresa |
