That's a fantastic price! I paid $1600 and it was worth it! |
Stewie's Mom- I wasn't trying to say by paying more you will get a better dog- there are some people out there with good dogs that don't charge much... they are the exc I said be careful- if you see the person, the home, the parents AKC paperseption RATHER than the rule. (do they match the puppies papers), and everything looks good- then you have a good start. Have you asked for her vets name and have you called for a reference? Did you call the AKC to see if she is in good standing? Have you seen the written health gurantee? If the breeder is telling you she will guarantee the dog for life- then something is wrong... A lot can happen in 18 years. I would rather tell you to be careful and check things out- then have you get hurt. Many low priced yorkies are bred in puppy mills (they have AKC papers). For a breeder to make ends meet: They must purchase good dogs- that costs a whole lot, then they must properly raise the dog to adulthood. The they must pay a goodly stud fee for a premium stud. They must properly nuture the dam during pregnancy. Then, they must spend hours arranging schedules for birth, vaccinations, illness, cleanup and such. This all factors into the price on a puppy. Before I got cancer I used to raise Bostons. One of my families ran into me a couple of weeks ago. 7 years after I sold the puppy to them, they raved about how well mannered, healthy, tempered he was. I for one could not sell a puppy for the price this person is offering, I would not break even for my time, or expenses. As I said, be careful. Serious health problems are VERY expensive, both emotionally and financially. deborah |
Stop reading the post and go get that puppy. It's a great price and you'd be crazy not get it!!. [SIZE=1]GO GET IT!!!!! I paid $400 each for all three of my babies. And they are very healthy! I guess it depends on the breeder and how well they raised and treated them. Stop wasting time and get the puppy. You'll be glad that you did. |
