Am I a Trader??? Yesterday, my family of two human and 5 babies went and got our picture :photo: taken for our Xmas card..Boy was that something..:tongue036 But, while I was waiting a I saw the most beautiful Maltese. She was large about 10 pounds..I want one real bad... I told my yorkie babies.. I will always love them::wub: but, wouldn't they love another sister?? I kinda feel like a trader.. BUT..I CAN NOT HELP MYSELF..:dreaming: already have her name..DOLLY Are Maltese are to potty train like my babies now.. I also saw a Little cute bull dog name Savor.. I ask how he came up with this name..He said he rescued him when he was a 1yr ..because he was deaf and the owners where going to drown him because he was not perfect for breeding.. Thank God for us here that love our babies no matter what!! |
I had a maltese and found her a home earlier this year. She was a year old and would not housetrain for nothing! (Actually she was house trained, she would only do her business in the house and not on the pee pads if you know what I mean. lol) She was a cutie but she was nothing compared to my yorkie. She had a mind of her own. She would escape the yard and then run as fast as she could from me. She would jump in the middle of the table while we were eating and steal food off of my plate. She was a mess. And I could blame it on no training but I took her to training classes and she went for 12 wks. and it was a 6wk class. She never did graduate. I loved her but am glad she has another home now. I don't know if all maltese are like this but mine was. :) |
I had a maltese as a kid and she was super sweet! She slept with me evrey night, was potty trained and knew lots of tricks (as long you were holding something yummy lol) She never ran away, she didnt even like going on walks that much, she would NEVER touch grass unless it was trimmed and not wet lol i have to admit, she was a lil diva that one. She LOVED being groomed, ive never met another dog like that, if you took out a brush (wether it was your or hers) she would pester you until youd brush her all over and re-do her bow. I really miss her :( she died of cancer. |
I think all pups are cute, but i just have to remind myself that they grow up! My kids were even trying to get me to take home a rottweiler puppy that had been abandoned in the vets and yes she was super cute but will grow up! Im hooked on yorkies as when they grow up they are still super cute!:D |
I'm not thrilled with the runny eyes maltese get.... I saw on last week where there was this redish brown stuff all over the poor babies face! it looked sick to me. The owner had 3 of them but I couldn't help but think they could have been groomed better!:( |
1 Attachment(s) I have a little maltese boy almost 15 yrs old and he is and has been a joy to all of us! His name is Scruffi and as far as tears, they are very easily kept clean. |

I think maltese are cute but My Husband thinks they look too much like poodles and he doesnt like poodles |
Misha was so easy to train & very smart. Much smarter than Piper which is a maltese & yorkie. I thought that Piper has taken longer to do everything because of the yorkie in her. They are both so different, Misha is more layed back as to where Piper is hyper. Piper took for ever to potty break as to Misha was by 4 months. Piper loves to jump all the time, Misha is miss priss and well behaved. They are both very loving & possessive of me. I was thinking of getting a full yorkie next, if the hubby says ok. I would also have no problem getting another maltese either. I love both. |
Your not a trader, I have a yorkie/maltese that I would not take a million for...Peanut is the best, I guess alot of the yorkie or maltese has to do with their on little personality...Peanut was house trained fast and easier than my other yorkies, but they are all good.... |
1 Attachment(s) I have a maltese boy he is 13 months old and he is not fix and will mark a spot now and then:mad: but he is potty train to go out about 99.9% which is pretty good:rolleyes: |
How big do maltese get? Do they shed??? i don't know much about them. |
i like morkies. they are the perfect combo of both. |
"Weight under 7 pounds, with from 4 to 6 pounds preferred. Overall quality is to be favored over size" - the AKC standard for size on a Maltese. |
Oh, and on the shedding tip, I'd compare them to a well bred Yorkie. With a proper coat, no not really. With a not so good coat for the breed then sure, a little anyway, just because they actually have some undercoat to them. |
1 Attachment(s) I will always have a maltese. They are wonderful, sweet and are so much easier to house train in my experience. Here's Chloe being her typical tomboy silly self.:p |

You guys!!! When you spelled "traitor" -- as "trader" --- I thought you were talking about trading your dogs for a maltese. Now I get it... you're talking about being a traitor for getting and enjoying another breed. I have a Yorkie and a Bichon - and have had many other purebreeds and mixed breeds in my life. I think they were all special, and I loved every one of them. It would never enter my mind to think that any one breed or dog is the best or all that I would ever want. And for that matter, I know a lot of you here on YT have several different breeds of dogs - and love them all. Carol Jean |

Misha weighs 6.6. Ive seen them at 10 lbs. Some do have staining around the eyes, some don't. The only difference so far I have really noticed between Misha & Piper is, Piper goes wacko once or twice a day. That is, she'll start running through the house non stop until she tires out. She's more of a tom boy. Misha is prissy, and won't do this. The only time she runs is when Piper is chasing her. |
My mom's friend had a maltese and she was the sweetest thing ever! She was so nice and friendly |
Maltese/Yorkie 2 Attachment(s) I'm not an expert but I do have a year old Yorkie and a four year old female maltese........love them both. But I would add another maltese in a heart beat! Wouldn't even have to ask my husband about it.........he loves the maltese breed because of their sweetness and believe me she is 100% of hairy sweetness. The eye staining can be the result of lack of knowledge as to the cause and then making the necessary corrections. We got the maltese at 2 yrs. old and her face was so nasty looking we hesitated to get her.........so glad we didnt let that stop us. :D She is a beauty. I most likely would not get another yorkie (and I love my Toby) because they are alot of terrier action. The maltese is more layed back to me. At least this is the case with my two kidos. |

Daddy would work but I don't know about much sugar! lol This is him last xmas and then him back in his good days. I rescued him when he was 3 years old. Dogs had fought with him and he was all scratched up around his eyes etc and was a real sight. He has been with me 12 years now and I cannot imagine the day he leaves for the bridge! |
