New puppy....Help! The puppy I got the other day does nothing but cry. If I hold it, it cries. If I put it down, it cries. Everything I do, it cries. I don't know what to do for it. It hasn't eaten very much. She threw up the day I got her, but I attributed it to the fact of the long car ride. She threw up today but only after she had sit and cried for 2hrs. I don't know what to do. Any advise? |
how old is the puppy and remeber it takes them time to adjust its not unusual from what i have read for them not to eat well the first few days and the throwing up too could be from the new surroundings... just give it time im sure all will get better hun |
The puppy is 11wks old. I just don't know what to do to make her stop crying. No one is getting any sleep at night with all the crying and I'm concerned that she is making herself sick by all the crying. |
Awww, poor thing. Your heart must be breaking for her. She sounds scared. Have you taken her to the vet yet to get her checked out since you brought her home? There might be something else going on. Hope she's feeling better soon. |
Have something warm and soft for puppy. Towels, puppy bed, pillow, etc. If puppy cries when you hold it, try talking to it soothingly while cuddling it and hug it close to your body so that it feels secure while you pick it up. You can even try singing something nice and sweet to it like some children's song. When it is tired, he will stop crying. When you do put it down, put him in to his crate with pillow and blankie or dog bed to make it feel safe. Sometimes, puppies adjust to their new homes as soon as they get there or it might take up to a week. Good luck and let us know if it gets better. An 11 weeks old puppy shouldn't take too long to adjust. Maybe there is something going on? Like a physical condition? It might be a good thing to see a vet if you haven't done so. |
there is a toy out there that is actually made to be put in the microwave! It gets nice and warm and then the puppy can cuddle with it. Winnie loved hers...I think it was made by Pet Stages. You can buy it at Petsmart or Petco. |
I have one of those toys that microwave, It isn't helping. |
Some people say to wind up an alarm clock and put it in bed with the puppy, and the ticking of the clock helps. |
Could she be sick? I would take her to the vet. |
I took her to the vet the day I got her and he gave her a clean bill of health. I just don't know what to do for her. She acts as if she needs to potty but nothing happens. She has pottied since I got her and it is formed but soft so I don't think she is constipated. Maybe her tummy hurts? |
have you tried to give her some chicken & rice for her stomach....It sounds if she may have a stomach ache...:) |
I meant to put in this too...If it were me and she is still crying alot tonight I would take her to the vet tomorrow... |
When I get my new puppies, I carry them around inside my zipped up jacket for a while. that makes them settle down and they really bond with me. If it's not eating, I hope you have something to give it to prevent hypoglycemia. You may need to feed it some cottage cheese or scrambled eggs for a few days. I know Cesars is not all that good for them, but anything is better than nothing and they all love it. they don't eat lot at that age, a tablespoon is a lot for their little tummies I full tummy and a warm bed fare sure to make it sleepy. it shoud actually be sleeping about 18 to 20 hours a day. |
Gracie cried constantly when I first got her, she was just 8 weeks old. At that age, they are afraid because they have been abandoned by their pack. What I did was ignore the crying, and gave her attention when she was being quiet. She quieted down after 4-5 days. I have heard that they go through a second stage fearing abandonment at about 6 months of age. I am awaiting that! Good luck and enjoy!:) |
you can also try placing a heating pad under a towel on low setting and see if that helpsbut i would prob call the vet too . also did u ck its little hind end to make sure that it doesnt have poop stuck there clogging it just a few things that i can think of bless ur heart and its too hope things get better for you keep us updated hun.... |
