Puppy food to adult food At what age does one change from Puppy food to regular dog food? How do I make that transition? |
Well, I am not sure about the age but when Jane was young we changed from puppy to adult food by first mixing in small amounts of adult food in the puppy. Then larger amounts in time until the get used to the taste, then put smaller amounts of puppy food and larger amouts of adult food. And after a while your furbaby will get used to the adult food and then you do not have to mixed in the puppy food. IMO Hope I help! :D |
All Grown Up We were told by the breeder to leave on puppy food for one year. |
"THEY" say, (whoever they are) between 8-12 months,, depending on how big and strong they are,, I switched at 9 months, cause he was getting a little BEEFY! ha I could tell he didnt need all the additives in the puppy food anymore, alot of fat and filler and vitamins in puppy food that puppies need. But ,I did mix the puppy and adult food,, so he didn't even notice. Not that I thought he would,, He'll eat ANYTHING!! LOL |
rrosenberry, did you ever experience fussy eating? I am going through this right now. I have probably brought it on myself. I was thinking about stopping the practice of being her Short Order Cook and keep her on the puppy food. If you are anybody is going through this, please holler at me. |
No ,he is not fussy,, he will eat anything,,, Begs nonstop! But he will always go back to the dog food! So sorry cant really help ya,, have you tried diffrent brands of food? I always fed Bailey Eukanuba then my neighbor gave me some Science diet (cause her dog wouldn't eat it) and he pratically inhaled it,,then I was worried he wouldnt eat his old food, but he did. ALso that Iams gravy stuff that ya put on their food,, it has alot of vitamins and good stuff in it,,, it really looks and smells like gravy,, another friend gave me that (cause their dog wouldnt eat it) and again he inhaled that,, I just used a drop or so,, and he would eat the entire bowl,, even though I know only a few pieces had the gravy on it.. Might try that stuff. Good luck. :) |
