Male or Female?? Hi Everyone, Well our baby celebrated her 1 year anniversary with us yesterday (she turned 1 year old in August). We have now made the decision to bring another little one into our home - as a playmate and to keep her company. Our dilema is on what gender! I have contacted the breeder that we got her from and there may be a litter out of the same parents early next spring - so I've got a bit of thinking time. Our little princess is completely housebroken (went really easy!!) and goes out for walks 2 times a day - - but has never put the two things together. She'll rush home from the walk to go potty on her potty pad. We originally had a potty box with nice soft grass on our enclosed patio and really encouraged her to use it - - with no luck. Soooooo - would/could a male be trained to also always go on the potty pad??? Would we need a potty pad fire hydrant? Or should we revive the potty box?? Any thoughts, ideas, and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! |

I started out with pee pads then 'upgraded' to the dog litter - but with the pee pad inside. Roxy and TJ both use them just fine. However, my little bugger TJ...sometimes (well most of the time) he goes to the box and puts his front paws in the box and the lifts his leg to pee. I have to have pee pads lined under the box too, to protect my hardwood floors from his 'missed' pee. Maybe I should look into a fire hydrant - do you know where to get one? |

I had male and female puppies and never really had problems with them going on pee pads . |

My vote for a Male! I love little boy yorkies, so sweet:p |

Thanks for the replies!! Here are a couple of sites that sell doggy fire hydrants - http://www.petdiscounters.com/produc...cat=288&page=1 http://www.patiopark.com/proddetails.htm |

I think you should get a boy! I love having a boy and a girl and I love them both dearly, but I truly feel that there is no better pet than a male yorkie who is fixed early (around 4-5 months). My little boy is SO loving and sweet. That would be so awesome if you could get a little boy from the same parents. Both of my yorkies have the same parents, too. Hootie is from a subsequent litter. |
