| We are not sure...vet is guessing that she must have started pushing and ruptured it. Sat. night around 11pm, she got nervous and we notice that her water bag was bulging, but not broken.....waited about 1 hour and nothing had changed...no contractions or panting. I called the vet and he said this was normal, but thought she would probably go into full labor with a couple of hours....she didn't-----just layed down and went to sleep. Called vet and met him at the office and he said that the babies were to big to come down into the birth canal and that is why she never started contracting....he said he needed to go ahead and do c-section. Went to pick her up and he said that she had a ruptured uterus and he repaired it and she should be fine....that was Sat. morning. She was lazy acting and could not walk straight or stand for a very long period of time all sat. and sunday.....called vet and he said that it was somewhat normal, just to bring her in Monday morning to be sure. Got there and found out she had an infection from the rupture and also mastitis in her lower teats on the right side....that is why she could not stand and get around very good.....her leg is soooo swollen. When we finally got to bring her home this afternoon, he explained that she will not be able to feed the pups anymore....that is up to us now. She is on antibiotics and cannot be in contact with the pups because of her need to feed them and also the mastitis caused a huge half of a golf ball sized blister in the teat area. She wants to get to the babies so bad.....she is such a good mommy! We are just glad that she seems to be pulling thru this.....she was worth every $ that we just paid out!!!!
Sorry to have wrote a book about this...LOL....I just want everyone that is not aware of all the complications that can come out of pregnancy to read first hand what can happen and be aware.....Don't get me wrong, we love all 5 of her little ones that have come out of this situation, but none of them are worth losing our Lily-bug over!!!! Gotta go.....gotta get ready for an 11pm appt. with 5 tiny babies...... |
