My Maggie (aged nearly 4 years) has only in the past two weeks started assuming precisely the same stanct to pee. I figured it was some sort of dominance thing, since Molly has joined us.

Kind of goes along with the fact that she now wants to wait to pee (in the yard, mind you) until Molly is done, and then pee right over where she did it.

I definately think it's a thing about asserting her right to be alpha dog!

(It is cute to see, however...Not really the full blown leg lift of a male dog, but more of a "compromise position".)

:confused: BOTH of our girls do this! I am positive that Gizzie watched Gypsy and has copied her ever since (she copies everything her sis does!) Both hold one little leg out when they use the conveniences!! Gypsy Rose goes one step further and is very interested in lamposts and tries to territory mark on them... like Chanel though she is also a tomboy!! Ana xx

OMGosh !! I was going to post about that and forgot ! I've just noticed Chane will watch Cheri go pee - then she nonchalantly walks over and pees in THAT SAME SPOT ...looks at me and says..."HUH ! So there "! lol..she thinks she's sooooo cool doing that !

she has done leg kick since she was a baby - the apha thing is brand new ! I am so glad to hear she isn't the only transvestite ...I mean transgender...or cross gender pee-er

I have a cross gender pee-er too! I'm so happy I'm not the only one. My girl has always lifted her leg and I couldn't understand why. And she looks just like the pic of your girl when she goes...LOL.

That's the funniest thing I have ever seen!!! I can honestly say that I have never seen Toto do anything like that! It's neat that you were able to get a pic! Toto is waaay too fast for me!! ;)

Gidget does that too. I grew up around dogs (not Yorkies though!) and I have never seen another female pee like that. It cracks me up.

Oh my gosh!! My four year old female goes one even further....she lifts BOTH back legs. I'm not kidding....she stands on two front legs to pee. If my digital didn't have a delay, I'd take a pic. She has always done it and she has perfect balance. I've no idea where she got such an idea, we only got our male about two weeks ago so she didn't get it from him. He doesn't lift a leg yet anyway. She also scratches the ground when she's through, only she scratches about three feet away. Yea, like she doesn't know that she's missing the spot???

Lillie has always done that! Sometimes she kicks out her back legs, too.

Both my females do that! Tinkerbell didn't do it when we were trying to pee pee pad train. As soon as she went outside to potty she started doing that. It's like they don't want the grass to touch their tummy.

Lucy hovers one leg up when she pees, especially when the grass is wet, its so funny to se its like she doesn't want to get her belly wet! sometimes when she smells another dogs 'scent' on a fence or something, she completely lifts her leg!!! Strange dog! :D
