Frustrated doggie mom!!
 

Hi everyone! Heres my story, please bare with me. Last night I took my dogs to petsmart for the halloween party. While waiting to be judged for the costume contest I overheard these two ladies saying one of my dogs will probably be chosen ONLY because they are cute and little. Then the one lady went on to say that my dogs should NOT even be considered real dogs. Then the other lady said that I probably don't allow them to eat in order to keep them small. It took everything out of me not to smack both of them. First, why shouldn't my dogs be considered real dogs?? Am I missing something here?? Second, I starve my dogs to keep them small :mad: What freaking nerve people have. My babies have food out 24/7 in two places in my home plus they have treat dishes out too. I just don't understand why anyone would say something so rude for no reason at all. I have two yorkies and a pekingese. All three are the sweetest babies a girl could ever ask for. For the most part we had a great time yesterday but I couldn't help to notice we (my fiance and I) got attitude from a few people. I have also noticed this a few other times while out with my furbabies. My fiance thinks yorkies are seen as a snobby person's dog mostly because of the way media has portrayed them with celebs. Have any of you felt a bad vibe from a stranger while out with your dog? Maybe they see my dogs dressed and think I'm a wacko?? LOL I just love my dogs and they don't mind the clothes, so why not dress them if I want. If they didn't like the clothes I would never make them wear them. Regardless of all that I just don't understand why people don't like yorkies or small dogs in general. So many people before I got my first yorkie told me not to get one because they are mean. They sure didn't know what they were talking about. If you consider kisses when coming through the door mean then you have probelms, LOL!! Anyways, thanks for listening to me. I needed to vent, LOL!! :D

That is awful!! It would have took every last bit of strength for me not to say anything and I am still no sure I could have kept quiet. I really think they are jealous so they have to say something stupid to justify their jealousy. Luckily I have never gotten that type of response from anyone when I take out my babies. But I have heard people say that a dog was starved and that is why is was so small. I don't know why some people think that if your dog is really small you have to starve it to keep it that small or stunt its growth. I think jealousy got the best of them.:mad:

Oh, my goodness, your furbabies are so adorable. I love the flowers in their hair! And those sweaters! Too cute! :D

I can imagine how ticked off you were...:mad: So sorry you had that awful experience. :(

Your babies are precious and those two old biddies were just jealous. Don't waste any more brain cells storing that incident or worrying about it. It is clear from the photos that yours deserved to win, so stick your nose in the air and walk away with the blue ribbon.

Your babies are gorgeous! You are a much better person than I ... I personally think a good "smack" was in order! It was awful for them to try to ruin the fun for you and your babies! Some people should just keep their opinions to themselves! grrrrrrrr

I hope those two butts didn't totally ruin it for you all .... I think you had three little "winners" and they were just jealous! ;)

Your babies are sooo beautiful! I would have had a hard time biting my tongue had I overheard people talking like that about me and my dogs - suggesting that you withhold food to keep them small?? WHAT! That's such an insult - to even suggest that you don't treat your dogs well. I probably would have said something... though I'm not sure what.

Some people are just plain miserable. And everyone else is right - these comments were probably a result of jealousy and competition.

I think they made those comments because your dogs were in a competition with theirs. I have never had my dogs in a competition but have taken them out places and people have always been nice.

What b*tches! I would've probably said something. Good for you for ignoring them though, that takes a stronger person.

I agree with everyone one else..they are just jealous!

I second that.....most negative comments or derogative statements stem from jealousy it seems. Those are the kind of people you just love to hate!!!!

My mom always said to keep our mouths shut in situations like that so we don't bring ourselves down to their level but it sure it hard!!!! You did good.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Shame on those ladies for saying that! Your 3 babies are BEAUTIFUL and so well kept. Just ignore ignorant people like that -- they're jealous.

I think those ladies are just mad that they didnt have little yorkie babies of their own. Hey did you win the contest?

first, like everyone else on here... i think they are all beautiful! second, there seems to be this sterotype out there about yorkie owners... it jsut takes a few on tv or whatever... who treat their dogs like a "thing" and have the attitude to go along with it... to ruin it for the rest of us. i know people say things about layla and i ... and it kinda gets to me... but i just love her so much.. they have no idea how amazing she is and how much better i am to have her in my life... too bad for them... it looks like you have 3 precious little souls lining up to love you!

1st off your little ones are just darling! 2nd off, thoose women were just jealous! I wouldnt let them bother you, it's not worth it.

oh don't worry and don't let a few sad and miserable people spoil your day. i'm sure you had fun and your babies looked adorable! I think we all heard some negative comments about our babies.

I think we all are winners cause we all have beautiful little darlin babies to Love and spoil...:D I look at Chewy every day and think how wonderful he is and how blessed we are to have him! People are never happy. When I take my Chewie out, I get the opposite because he is a big boy, (15 pounds). They always ask me if he is a Silkie cause he is too big to be a yorkie. Or gee they hope their dogs don't get that big. It takes a bigger and better person to just smile and walk away. At least I have my yorkie and I could care less how much he weighs. Good for you!

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the nice comments left. I know they were jealous old bags, LOL but I guess the fact that they said I starved my dogs to keep them little really annoyed me :mad: If people saw how much my babies ate they would probably go in shock. I may even start a new thread to see if you guys have babies that eat like mine. I swear their little eating machines. I can't figure out where it goes, LOL!!! I'm happy to say those ladies didn't ruin my time. I think I was more bothered once I got home and thought about it. I really wish all those actresses wouldn't use these small type of dogs to show off. I remember my friend's dad seeing my Pia for the first time and asking me if I was trying to be Paris Hilton. I know he was joking but since I'm 25 I guess many people may sometimes think this about me. Not that age matters but I think it helps to get targeted a tad more. I love my babies and I've always had a special place in my heart for small dogs. My pekingese is almost 12 yrs. now and has literally grown up with me. Through the years I wanted him to have a friend but my mom kept saying NO since we had him and 3 cats. Well, as soon as I moved out I got my Snoot two little sisters, LOL. He loves them to death and I swear it has put him back in his youth :D I guess this is way off from the original post, LOL but I thought I'd share. By the way my dogs didn't win. However, I was very happy with the person that did win. She was an older lady and was so happy!! It was very cute to see how excited she became. :D Thanks again everyone for all the nice comments!!

Okay........I JUST HAVE TO SAY............those pictures were the BEST!! What adorable babies....all of them......that last pictures....wow!

All that matters, is that you had fun and your furbabies had fun! It takes a better person not to say something back....way to go!

Course, with me, I probably would have turned around & patted their dogs and talked about how cute they were and wish them luck.....just so they would feel, maybe a tad bit guilty of their attitudes and comments! HA!

I would have had Alphy lift his leg on them. :rolleyes:
