Look at her sweet little face! You can tell she's a little jewel! |
I went to the breeders tonight and this is the first time I’ve ever seen a Yorkie in person. Their pictures are adorable, but I was overwhelmed with their beauty. There hair is more beautiful than human hair, like silk, but I guess you all know that! They were all so well behaved. I wanted to take him home with me, but the breeder needed time to get the paperwork in order. So tomorrow I will be picking up my new boy. Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. Nancy |
Congratulations Nancy! Enjoy him, this is one of the best breeds in our canine community, hands down! |
how adorable! Quote:
Yorkies are not mean .... they are loving and giving .... Debbie |
Vicious Yorkies I not only heard that rumor.......and I have witnessed it myself, but I will admit that it was the Owner's fault not the Breed in particular. During my search for my 2 Yorkies (1 male @ almost 3 yrs. old & 1 female @ 2 yrs. old now). I would go up to strangers with Yorkies and try to ask them questions, since all the books & magazines give you the text book version of them. The odds were for every 5 Yorkies, maybe only 1 was "Socialized" and the other 4 were outright vicious. But I personally could see past that, most of them re-act out of fear, insecurity and lack of Training! I firmly beleive that they are a reflection of me, so I made sure that mine were well "Socialized" But it's definetely something you have to work on constantly every day. I just ignored what everyone else said when they tried to discourage me against them, but those same Family members all got Yorkies after they met mine! (Cousins & Sister) Not only are they biters, barkers/growlers with attitude problems and a bad reputation (said by non-Yorkie owners of course) they are usually people that had a bad experience with an untrained & unsocialized Yorkie? I find that other people thinking about getting one always ask the same questions about their personality traits? I always encourage them to get one b/c I beleive they are the Best! Regardless of their Reputation, but I always stress "Training" is everything! In fact I love mine sooooo much I have 4 now.......I went Yorkie crazy!:aimeeyork |
Nancy: I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!! You will LOVE being a Yorkie mommie. Chester: Good job, little guy. I bet your mommie is really proud of you!!! |
Artie: I just read your post. I am really surprised to hear that Yorkies have this reputation and that you have seen vicious Yorkies. I have had my Yorkies for over 3 years now and take ours everywhere we can, petstores, all kinds of doggy events, walking, etc. We have met lots and lots of Yorkies and I have never met even one that was not friendly to both our Yorkies and to humans. I'm not saying that I don't believe there are any, I am just really surprised by this. |
Mean yorkies? maybe you got confused with a chihuahua :))) I never saw one that was mean....and i saw MANY. Well, maybe just 2 that wasn't over friendly, but defiantly not mean. |
