First Time Grooming... Scared I took my little rat to the groomer this morning for her first grooming, she is 6 months old. She has really bad matts on her back and the groomer said to just shave her because it might hurt her. I called my girlfriend end up and she said no way, she'll be so ugly and Cali (yorkie) would have low self esteem. So we decided to have her get the matts out, which th egroomer said would take about 15 minutes, and go with the original puppy cut. Anyone had this problem? Will she be scarred for life and never want to go to the groomer? (even though she has no choice...) |
yes, lexi had lots of matts around 6 months old..my cousin the hairdresser shaved her , had too... and now her coat is beautiful... |
When I got Piper she was full of matts. I cut them all out & started fresh. I now comb her every day to prevent it. |
I use Cowboy Magic Detangler on Venus. Seems to get out all the matts. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it. Can find it at most "horse supply shops". Go ahead and laugh! Many here swore by it, so I tried it! Was worth every penny I spent on it! |
I'm sure she'll be okay as long as the groomer is compassionate about getting the matted hair corrected. I used a detangler and my razor comb because mine tend to get 'love mats' ( behind the ears and stuff where we love one them). |
