when i got annie she had such long claws they were turned sideways and are now deformed, we have a wood floor and she has problems walking on it so ive been looking at dog shoes or booties for her and as some of you will know if you have looked on the sick forum she may have had a stroke or vestibular problem so has a head tilt and is a bit wobbley at the moment which makes it harder for her to walk so what i wanted to know is those of you who have booties for your yorkies can they walk in them and do you think they would help annie?

Most Yorkies will not walk with the shoes on. I would try some infant socks with the no slip rubber on the bottoms before investing in the shoes. You can also get her toe nails back to a normal length by faithfully cutting a little each and every week. The bloodline will fall back with each cutting and eventually her nails will be a normal length.

thanks for your reply:) yeah i did wonder about socks for her, i think the booties look a bit heavy and clumsy. ive been cutting her nails and so has the vet but cos they are turned in the bace of the nail the vet said it will take maybe over a year to get them back to normal .

Mitzi has always booties on when she goes out but they are also great for indoors b/c they have rubber dots. I make then myself and it's really cheap. I cut the fingers off garden gloves and fix them with elastic band with velcro at the ends. Mitzi is ~ 6 lbs. If you like I could make some and send them to you.

aww they look cute:D they would be perfect for her, not heavy or clumsy. you are one clever lady :D

aww thats so nice of you to offer but im not sure how much that would cost as im in the uk. how would i get the postage cost to you?

What a GREAT idea!!! I bought Gage a pair of booties at Bass Pro Shop last winter. My problem is the small size were still too big on him! He'll walk (somewhat) with them on but they end up falling off of him and I don't want to velcro them too tight. This would be a perfect solution! I can't sew a stitch but my friend does so I might could get her to do it. Do you have any directions or anything on how you sew the elastic on? Any suggestions/help would be appreciated:)

I actually don't sew the elastic on. The booties are not very, very durable and need to be replaced or washed after a while. Mitzi always manages to get 'holes in her socks'. But since they are so cheap (~$1.00 a set) it doesn't matter. So when one set is worn out I just replace them and don't need to replace the elastics. If you like, I can make a set for Gage and send it to you (for free).

Please don't worry about that! Mitzi invited you to try her shoetzies for free and that includes the postage.
