Registration names Is there an exact science to picking a puppy's AKC (or otherwise) registered name? I'll be getting a puppy soon and have barely thought of a name for him, much less a registration name! Thanks! Susan |
naming Naming a puppy is no different then naming a baby human IMO...pick something you like...although your child will hate you if you name them something silly, but your dog won't mind a bit. |
Except if your puppy is going to have a somewhat common name, you'll have to come up with an original AKC name. My aunt's two golden retrievers (both RIP) were Princess Baileyeski of Scooterville and Banana Bran Muffin, but they wanted the AKC names to be Bailey's Irish Creme and Brandy Cognac. My family gave Tristan a full Hebrew name. Maybe one day he'll be Bark-Mitzvahed! |
Just have fun and be creative. There is no science to it. Some people use their last name or the name of their town or the names of the dog's parents and then somehting that suits their personality maybe. Let us knw what you come up with. |
Yup, just have fun with it! :) That's what we did and it was great to think and come up with something we love! |
Some also use the Kennel name. We knew before we ever found our baby that her name would be Toto [even though she is a girl]. So we registered her with AKC as: Tyava's Out of Oz, Toto! Tyava is the Kennel name. ;) |
My Yorkies have the kennel names of their breeders . They already have registered names when I had them . I just chose the " Call names ". Sandrine , Gioia and Kellie . |
