Losing Puppy Teeth? I always read about finding the teeth or having to get them pulled. And Stump is a year old and we got him at 10 weeks (too young but I've learned) and when we got him all of his teeth weren't in yet. But they grew in, I don't even remember after that him missing anymore teeth or finding any on the floor. Is this normal??? |
I suppose I waited for Adonis to tell me the tooth fairy needs to come:D He never told me:confused: I don't remember him loosing any teeth either. I'm not much on checking teeth all the time to find out when they loose one myself. I suppose you have to do a lot of checking, dunno |
My vet said that I probably would not notice, as the puppy either swallows them or they end up in the vacuum. However, this morning I noticed that Gracie was missing her lower front teeth! Her mouth is frequently open when we play, so I tend to take a peek now and then! |
They should lose all of their baby teeth by six months. Since your dog is a year old he should have all of his adult teeth. You need to make sure that he hasn't retained any of his baby teeth though. This is really common for Yorkies and other small breeds. Look into his mouth. He should have 6 incissors on top and on the bottom. Then 4 canine teeth (long pointy ones) all together. If he has extras you need to take him in to get them pulled |
For awhile I was finding little baby teeth left and right! I even had to wiggle one out as if he was a real kid.. lol.. it was just hanging there by a thread and I could tell it was getting on his nerves. I don't think it's a big problemo that you haven't found any of Stump's teeth.. just have your vet take a look in his mouth the next time you're in their office. |
I was able to save some of Kona's teeth. Every once in a while I'd hear her chewing on something and it turned out to be a tooth. Bernie is now 6 months and I haven't found any of his. I need to get them both into the vet to get their teeth checked out. |
I noticed at about six months that my little Pete was starting to resemble a little shark with all the extra teeth in his mouth but I wasnt quite sure at the time how many were actually supposed to be there. After his surgery (neutering) the vet came out with a vile filled with 13 baby teeth:eek: ! Which explained why I never found any of his! But I have also been told that they usually swallow them and you never even notice. |
Well he doesn't seem to have any extra teeth. But I'll have the vet check next time we go. Thanks for all the info, I was getting kinda of worried! |
