Big Dog with Your Little Yorkie????
 
Okay, Sophie has an older sister who is a Rottweiler/Boxer mix (mostly boxer) She is thick, strong, Muscular, not so smart, but an Alpha Dog if there was ever one. I am nervous having Sophie around her because I know if Pixie steps on her the wrong way even once, she could end up seriously hurt. Am I being overprotective? When they play Pixie likes to stand over Sophie and when she runs she runs over her and kicks her accidentally. My husband thinks I am being paranoid. Am I? I am afraid Sophie will get seriously hurt.:confused:

You always have to be careful with big dogs and little dogs. We have a Boxer who dearly loves the Yorkie kids. It is amusing to watch Boo try to play with the Yorkies. She trys to make herself small and run with them, but sometimes...... accidents happen and she will bump in to one of her little sisters. The Yorkie kids get really po'd when Boo accidently steps on their hair. :)

Your Rotti's name is Pixie? hehe thats cute!! Im sure she could get hurt if stepped on..its hurts me when my friends big dog steps on my foot lol...Sadie stepped on Darla a few times when she was first here..after time they learn to sidestep each other.

I dont know how big your dogs are but kizzy is close to 10 lbs now and maggie isnt even 4 lbs yet, kizzy is very aggressive with maggie and she will run right over her as if she isnt even there, hold her down and everything, I watch them pretty close and maybe i'm over protected but I wont go off and leave them alone in the same room. we normally put maggie n her bed and leave kizzy in the utility room and hubby ask last night when we went out why didnt I just leave them both in the utility room. I told him, i'm scare to leave them alone in the same room when i'm not here. I dont think kizzy would ever actually hurt maggie bad on purpose but theres such a difference n size i'm always scared kizzy might accidentally do something to her to hurt her. so if your paronoid or over protective I guess it means I am too.

Well, here is my thought process (paranoid?) If a Yorkie can just jump off a couch and ahve to have its spine or neck fused back together and end up in a doggie wheelchair, well what if Pixie (husband named her not me:o) steps (accidentally) on Sophie's back she could end up out of commision. Pixie is not at all careful about where she steps or walks. Poor Sophie normally cowers down on the ground if Pixie is out around her. I think it would be great if they could run and play, but I am so stressed out when they are together, I am just constanly worrying.

Pixie is 60 lbs by the way and Soph is only 4.7.
