Where Does Your Puppy Sleep ... Where does your puppy sleep at night. Mine have alwasy slept on the bed with me. Teddy is my third Yorkie, and he loves being close to us. BUT he does like to wander a little in the night. That would be OK but we don't want him getting hurt while we are asleep. He managed to get under the bed last night, although he can't jump off the bed yet. Just interested in where your young ones sleep. Teddy is 9 weeks today. :animal36 |
Pete sleeps with me on the bed. As a pup he slept right next to my head on the pillow so I felt ok (I am a bit of a wiggle worm at night:p ). Now he moves around but for some reason Im hypersensitive now about where he is on the bed ...even in my sleep! Ill roll over and the second I feel fur I wake up and we snuggle:) . |
Ah !!! That is exactly how we are, but I didn't know he had moved I usually do, like you, as you do sleep more lightly when they are with you. I think I must be over tired as he is young and his teeth are drying him nuts, poor darling. I will have to find a way of knowing if he moves. :) |
Gracie slept on my pillow with me when she was younger and still does sometimes she is 6 and 1/2 months now and sleep in different places in my bed! |
A lot of Yorkies seem to love to sleep close to us don't they. I have always let mine, ever since, I had tried to settle my first Yorkie in another room, and he cried and cried, so I put his bed in our bedroom, and in the early hours you would feel him jump onto the bed. When I got my second, he was on the bed from day one, and now my puppy is too. I will have to find a way to make sure I wake up if he gets off the bed, he has not done it before. :D |
Wherever he wants! Hi, Toby the Yorkie starts out on the bed some nights and sleeps with us all night. Then some nights he gets under our bed as soon as the light goes out(a foot off the floor so there is plenty of room) and at some point in the night he creeps up on our bed and snuggles right next to me. We had to buy some stairs for him to get on and off the bed as our bed sits up really high. He took to them right away. Now our maltese will not use the stairs so we have to "manually" put her on the bed and she starts out on my pillow.....the WHOLE pillow.....and then after a few minutes wanders down to the foot of the bed where she stays all night. We have a King bed so there is plenty of room and I am trying to convince my husband there is room for at least one more little dog. haha |
Both Kona and Bernie sleep in my bed. Kona will usually sleep on my chest or between my legs. Bernie will be somewhere close to my head. We let both of them start to sleep with us when they could get on the bed on their own. That way we knew they could get both up and down so we didn't have to worry about them so much. |
Piccolo sleeps with me on my bed and he wakes me up when he wants to go pee during the night. |
Ours sleep at the foot of the bed |
Both of our girls sleep with us...sometimes they snuggle up between us and sometimes they curl up at the foot of the bed. |
We got Ty when he was 8weeks and he is now 12weeks and from the first night he has been in the bed with me and my fiance, he was sooooooo tiny when we got him just under 2pds, so I got him a harness and a leash tht measured from our bed to the floor just in case goddness forbid he fell off the bed he had enough slack not to hang himself, and he sleeps right in between us.......we were afarid we would roll over on him so we got his big soft bed he uses out in the living room and put that between us so it would seperate me and my fiance, which my fiance is over now.............he wants to know when he can sleep next to me again...........but anyways........Ty sleeps right in between us or this morning when I got up he somehow managed to get TJs head to the end of his pillow and Ty was laying on TJs pillow all curled up in a ball and if he isnt there he sleeps with his head on the pillow under the covers just like we do...........I do want to sleep next to TJ again soon, but when we go to move him he gives us the puppy eyes and his little sqeaks and and tilts his head and we give in............isnt it amazing how small they are but how much of the bed they can take up.............HAVE A SUPER SUNDAY CHRISTINE AND TY AND TJ |
Lexie, Bear & Peanut sleep with me, good thing its only me cause I don't think we could find anyroom for anyone else...Lexie & Bear are bed hogs they stretch out and Peanut sleeps right next to me...Lexie & Bear anywhere they want too....:p |
Gypsy sleeps in bed with me and hubby. She usu wants to sleep curled up next to hubby. We think cause he is warmer than I am. If I can not find her if I wake up, hubby usu is cuddling her like a teddy bear. They both love it. They even have a ritual at night where she gets on his belly for a petting. She is telling him good night. |
Snickers sleeps in bed with us, but will never jump down. He usually wakes one of us up around 3AM to use the pee pad. Baxter likes to sleep in his own bed until around 6AM, then he'll whine for one of us to pick him up. He won't jump down either. :animal-pa |
Both of mine sleep in the bed. I have doggie steps if they need to get up in the middle of the night to go to the pad or what not. |
Stedman sleeps in the bed with us. My hubby (had lol) one of the long "squishy" body pillows...which isn't his anymore since Stedman stole it  So we put that in the middle of us and Steddy lays right on it. He has to be RIGHT by us. He too jumps down in the middle of the night (usually to attack the cat, but he never stays down for more than a minute or two) and then he will come to the side of the bed and bark until we pick him up and put him back up on the bed with us. I am going to buy him some doggy steps very soon though - because the little guy can jump down, but he can't get back up :( |
Can anyone tell me where to get doggie steps............?Ty is still to little to use the steps to get up tp our apt but I am wanting to get some for the bed, and Ty also wakes me or TJ up in the middle of the night to go potty...........Yorlkies are so smart............Tyson has been doing tht since the first day he came home...........they may not know where to potty when they get off the bed but they at least know to get us up to get them off the bed, but I must say....TY is 12 weeks and has been using the potty pads very very very good for the past week..........thanks guys CHRISTINE |
I Am Really Glad I Started This Thread I am amazed at how many Yorkies love to sleep in bed with us, thier Mum's and Dad's. It seems many of them like to lay on the pillow and be covered like a human, I have had other breeds of dogs before, but never have ANY wanted to sleep like this. All three of my Yorkies love to be with us. It has made me smile. I just hope Teddy doesn't decide to jump off again without me knowing (LOL) :) :) :) |
Hootie and Hobbs both sleep in the bed with us. They have slept in bed with us since the first day we brought them home...Hootie since she was 7 weeks and Hobbs since he was 8 weeks. Neither of them can jump on or off the bed, so I don't worry about them wandering during the night. They wake me up if they ever have to go potty in the middle of the night. |
Teddy is only 9 weeks old so I really don't know how he got off the bed either, he is quite daring, I think he possible used the quilt as a slide, as we have a larger quilt than we need on the bed (in an attempt to stop hubby pinching my covers :p :D) We didn't hear a squeel or a bark, and he was quite happy under the bed. I hope he doesn't make a habit of it, there is too much on the floor that we don't want him to get. We will have to think of something, if he does it again. Aren't they adorable :) |
Susan sleeps part time on our bed, part time in her crate. Depends on how she feels. Sometimes she just needs her own space. |
Tila sleeps RIGHT WITH ME! lol it's fine because she's big enough so where if she jumps she doesn't get hurt, but she usually uses the pillows we have made into stairs, they're really firm stiff pillows, not regular ones! |
Duke sleeps with me. He started out sleeping on my legs... then he moved to my side... and now he thinks the whole king size bed is his. He still prefers to cuddle between my legs, but I'm not surprised to wake up in the morning and find him on my pillow by my head. He also readjusts the covers to suit him... it's quite a task for him as he pulls and jumps on them, but he gets them how he wants them I suppose, regardless of it's affecting me. :) And yes, he HAS to be touching me. He has puppy steps going up to the bed, but he won't go down them so I've made him a little landing pad of pillows so he doesn't hit the floor so hard. He's a rough little boy. I love my little bed buddy though. |

I woke up this morning at the very edge of the queen size bed almost ready to fall off. My little prince and princess were sprawled out on the rest of the bed. Jack was okay with sleeping in his own bed in our room until Jill came along. She would only settle with being in bed with us, that is, if we wanted a decent nights sleep. So now Jack has joined us. Thank goodness for doggy stairs. They would jump off during the night, not be able to jump back on and sit by the side of the bed and whine until I woke to pick them up. I gate the bedroom door and if they want to jump down, they won't get very far and they can get back in bed by themselves. |
I bought my doggy steps on EBay. The ones in the store and advertised on the TV are usually around a foot high, so, they weren't big enough for the bed. I was able to get a some that are a little over two feet high and they work great. The only thing is the shipping was a little high because some of them run heavy, depending on what they are made of. But, there's lots of variety on there. :) |
