New to Forum, Questions? Hi All, My wife and I just bought our second yorkie last friday night, since then we have been scared that she has some troubles, first thing we did was take her to the vet to have her checked out, other than some ear problems the vet said she was fine, but saturday night she was sleeping and starting making a winning sound and all of a sudden she just went limp, eyes rolled into the back of her head, but she woke up just as fast as she had done it, I gave her some nutrical and have been giving her some every morning and afternoon since. I"m still woried that it will happen again.... She has been very picky about eating, I seem to think that she was never weened... Any help would be great. THanks for such a great site!!!!!!!!!!! Will post pics soon! Keith |

puppy Welcome... How old is your puppy? Sometimes they do sleep very sound and get a bit limp..the fact she snapped back so fast doesn't sound like low blood sugar. A seizure usually lasts longer also. I would watch her, tell the vet and try to get her to eat , how much does she weigh? |
she is 8 weeks, about 1lb... it was nothing like i've seen before... |
oh she's a tiny one and very cute might i add! the description you said with the eyes rolled back does sound like a seizure. I've had patients who had a seizure for 5 seconds, but i'm not sure on animals. anyways i hope nothing but the best for your baby and hope all is well! keep us updated! |
Maybe low blood sugar (?) I am picking up my 2nd little one in another week or 2 and she is very small. The breeder said sometimes the smaller ones get lower blood sugar. She said she's never had a problem, but she knows it's possible. She said if she acts different to give her a little bit of honey...she said that she may recommend that I give her a little honey each day just as a precaution. |
My older maltese used to do that. It would scare me too because I couldn't snap her out of it right away sometimes. But she was just in deep sleep. Not seizures. |
Your puppy is darling! My vet told me that puppies dream quite a bit and make some crazy facial expressions while dreaming, so I'm hoping that is what it was with your little one! My dog has done some strange things while sleeping, so I, too, worried. She's been healthy as can be for some time now so my worrying has lessened. Best wishes to you and yours on your new addition and I hope all is well with her! |
