Bit My Tongue! So today I set up a booth selling my clothes, collarsm and some homemade treats at a Fall Festival. It was in a small town (I have family in that town) but there was a big turnout. Anyway.. I had some intresting people tell me about their dogs, I thought I'd post it because I knew some of you would get a laugh from them all... here are some of the diffrent dogs I heard about. My favorite!!!... A "Tiny Teacup Yorkie" ... that weighed 5 pounds. Toy Chi Teacup "fill in breed here" Oh and a lady who had an 8 week old "Teacup Chi" that weighs 1.8 pounds and won't ever get above 2 pounds... I didn't know they made a pill to stunt a puppies growth! I tried explaining to this lady that the puppy will probably be like3 or 4 pounds and she said "No, He is a teacup, the store promised me he wouldnt be bigger than 2" Anyway, I bit my lip and didn't say anything, I knew people would get offended! AHHHH! Lol. |
Just go to show you what ppl know about their own dog. Glad you didn't say anything you shouldn't have, I know some ppl from TN and it goes in one ear and out the other, ppl like that ever where. |
Some people are just after the smallest of small...status i guess?? Little do they realize the 'teacups' can be faced with a whole slew of health problems. Its AMAZING that people are so gulible to believe what someone tells them...how can she not believe that her 1.8 pound 8 week old pup wouldnt grow?? Some peoples children lol Dawn |
How did you do at the Fall Festival? It sounds like you racked up on the laughs, which is good for the Soul. Hope you made lots of $$ |
I went to the Pet Fest in Old Town Spring, TX today & had some of the same situations. What always amazes me is how complete strangers will walk up & ask me how much I paid for my Yorkie. So many ask me if she is a teacup that I've gotten to where I will just say, "I think she is going to be small". I have tried "the standard for Yorkies is under 7 lbs" but people don't really want to hear that. |
it's a shame she didn't do the research. i hope she's prepared to care properly for this pup. |

Yes, lots and lots of laughs! And when my dad got there I had to tell him about it, he was laughing too! But money wise I didn't make thousands or anything, but I honestly thought I would sell like one thing and that be it because of the town I was in. It's a little country town with like the population of under 1,000. But my collars were a big hit, which is good, but it left me out of a lot of letters. |
im happy you made some money there and got to laugh lol...my girl weighs 5.2 lbs from when seh went to the vet 2 weeks ago and she 1o months old i think she done growing unless I get her fat lol i took her into petsmart yesterday to get some toys and whatnot and then elderly lady came to me and said she has a teacup yorkie and shes had yorkies all her life but yet doesnt know there is no such thing as a teacup! and she said her baby 5lbs mine weighs 5 lbs and she small but shes bigger than my foot lol some people amaze me how they go about there daily life |
There is definitely fascination with the word teacup out there.I am glad you had a good laugh. Did you enjoy the festival? |

"My favorite!!!... A "Tiny Teacup Yorkie" ... that weighed 5 pounds" Yea, that means I really do have what I always wanted - a 5.75 lb Tiny Teacup Yorkie! Yippie:D I was talking to a older gentleman today that said he had a Tiny Teacup Black Pom that looked like a BubbleButt. He was very sweet, he and his wife had adopted 4 rescues and she just turned 79. She was wearing a pendant that looked like scrimshaw with a yorkie on it. That's what started the conversation. |
Hey you guys I was one of those stupid people that thought TEACUP was real. before yorke talk... so lets invite them here..LOL :) :) |
ha i would have said did you get that in writing!! poor people ! |
LOL. My tongue would have been bitten clear off. But I guess people know what they want to know. |

I was another one that thought "teacup" was real before YT too. Thanks to you all...I certainly know better now! Adonis isn't that small, he weighs about 6 lbs. I didn't want a "teeny" girl though. Venus weighed about 2 lbs at like 3 months or so. Vets scales were broken last trip there. I coudn't imagine a yorkie not getting any bigger than her though! |
lol to funny...i also live in a small town in tn so i know how ppl here can be lol....i live in newport tn do you know where that is |
I was at petsmart yesterday taking the 'kids' shopping. Anyhow, I came across strange remarks too. My favorite..........is that a poodle? Me: Yes, she is. Reply: She is so small. Me: Really, she is actually larger than the breed standard call for. Reply: No way! Me: Yes, she's a toy poodle. Reply: There is no such thing. Toys don't exist! Me: smiled, excused myself and proceeded to the checkout lane. There is such a huge confusion and lack of education out there............Mine actually IS a toy............LMAO! ;) |
