Question about Puppy Coat I used the search to see if i could find any info on puppy coats.. but no luck for my situation. Layla has a very "fluffy" coat... her hair is not straight and silky.. but more fluffy... she is 7 months old.. and iw as wondering if this is normal.. .will she ever develop the normal yorkie coat?? |
First of all I love your avatar pic. Yorkie can have different coats. It sounds like your yorkie has more of a cottony coat then a silky coat. Thats kind of how Maddie is. Is your baby black and brown mostly and a thick coat. I think thats how cottony coats are. Not sure if they grown out of it or not. Make sure and use a conditioner on her. It will help. |
Gracie is 6 months and i think she may be a cottony coat! She mats like crazy! |
sounds like my Bruce's coat which is more cottony. This is not something that you cannot deal with however, with the right products. I use a wellness brand supplement in his food for coat which has helped, although I am going to switch to missing link which I hear is even better. I also use a silicone based silker for his coat like pet silk and it gives him a silky appearance. However I checked with my vet before using anything silicone like on him and suggest the same for everyone. |
maybe try to run search into 'cottony coat' or 'woolly coat'. I know some puppies change their fluffy coat into silkier adult one but that happens around 4 months or so? |
ya.. layla is mostly brown and black. from the pictures i have it looks like she has her mom's coat.. but her dad has a beautiful silky coat... so maybe there is hope? Thanks for the suggestions.. i'm going to go look into them |
