So Finn is 1 day away from being 4 mos and he only weighs 2.6 ! The vet told me today that they do most of their growing in the first 6 months, so he only has 2 more months to grow! I am starting to think he is going to be on the small side, right? Its just that he is SOOO tiny now, its really demanding like a full time job to keep him out of trouble and BEEELIEVE ME!!! He SURE knows how to get into it!!! :D So how much more weight do you think he will put on in 2 months? |
Out of what I have researched, you take your Yorkies weight when they were three months and double it.Its supposed to be an estimate of how much your puppy will weigh when they are an adult.Sounds like he'll be a tiny one,but Yorkies usually range from 4 to 7 pounds so I think you'll be okay.Health and Happiness to you and your pup:aimeeyork |
Most sites I looked at says to double the weight at three months also bout my vet has told me to take the weight at 4 months and double it because it's more accurate. Now i dunno who is right but my vet did say that by 4 months of age, puppies have gone thru about 60% of their growth. Cash is almost 5 months and at 4 months he weighed 1.8lbs so i agree with you about them being so small that you have to be extra careful about keeping an eye on them. I'm hoping that Cash will get bigger but so far, he's only gotten fatter. |
You are right. Finn will probabably be a small furbaby. When my Tia was 4 months, she was 2 pounds. She is 6 months old now and has gained 5 ounces in the past 2 months. There are a lot of posts about raising a small yorkie and great advise. I have found that I worry a bit more about her than I do about Bailey, who is 5.5 pounds at 1 year. But I wouldn't trade her for anything! |
When Izzie was 3 months 2 days, she weighed 1 lb 8 ozs, now at 8 months she weighs 3 lbs 11 ozs. There were times we didn't even think she'd make 3 lbs. |
Bella stayed in the 2lb range up until around 5/6 months and then from 6/9 months, she's gained 2lbs! She hasn't gotten alot bigger, just beefed up. LOL! :) |
At 4 months Mackenzie weighed 2.3 lbs, she will be 2 years old in February and weighs 4 lbs :p I think most of the time those yorkie growth charts are pretty accurate. |
