New Yorkie Owner..Might be a dumb question but i need to know! .... Hello, YT..This might sounds dumb...But I noticed that many of you talk about extracting the baby teeth and whatnot. But i wanted to know if there baby teeth will fall out b4 they get their adult teeth or i need to have them pulled?? HELP??!! |
Some yorkies baby teeth fall out on their own and some yorkies have to have some extracted. Both of mine had 4 taken out at their spay/neuter |
Piccolo had 3 baby teeth left before neutering and they pulled them out during the surgery. Welcome to YT ! |
What about?? Do they bleed a lot like ours do...did urs swallow of of them?? cuz my Gizmo eats everything...Would that be bad for him?? How long does it take for them to fall out??? Sorry about all the questions....thanks |
They sometimes bleed a little but alot of times you dont even notice it. Most of the teeth they swallow but you might also find some on the fllloor. They are usually done teething about 7 months |
Ook that makes me feel a lot better!!:D Thank you so much for your help..so then that means that i should have him neutered around 6-7 months?? does it matter when u have him neutered?? |
I had Chachi neutered at 7 months and they removed his retained teeth then. That saved him from having to go under anesthia twice |
I had both my yorkies' retained baby teeth removed when they were spayed. However, I think it matters whether or not the retained teeth are causing problems. In my first yorkie's mouth they were actually causing holes in the soft tissue in the roof of her mouth. In my second girl's I had them removed because plaque was building between the new tooth and the retained one. However, the breeder I got my second one from said she generally does not remove them as it does not generally interfere with their bite and eventually they will fall out. So, it really is a judgement call, unless there are obvious negative effects from them. |
Tila's didn't fall out I think most small breeds end up having to get them pulled just ask your vet! I'm sure your going in for a shot sometime soon, ask then |
I guess I was lucky Both of my Yorkies teeth came out on there own. I was worried about Daisy she lost the last one at about 10 months. |
Mine both had to have some of their baby teeth pulled. You know they need to be pulled when they have two (a big and a small) of the same tooth. |
((OH KNOW MY SISSY HAS A DOUBLE TOOTH)) I was hopeing it would fall out. The vet said nothing to me about this..time for another visit to the doc.. |
Retained teeth My maggie is just now 7 months, she was spayed 1 month ago. last night I looked at her teeth and her baby top fang teeth did not come out and it looks the the adult teeth are in, so yea it's fairly common that all the baby teeth dont come out. I tried to encourage Maggie to loose them by playing tug o war with her, that works real well if they loosen. Vea |
teeth I find about 75% tend to retain teeth and need them removed at spay/neuter time. Puppies lose teeth and most owners do not even know they fell out..rarely do I find them, they must swallow them and there is never any blood..except on a chewy once in awhile. It can not be painful after having them pulled..Emee had 8 pulled yesterday..came home and ate her dinner..chewing on her toys this morning...plus she was spayed and was running down the steps to go outside in an hour..dogs are puzzling when it comes to pain...a tangle can make them scream and surgery is a breeze. |
