I was like OMG are u serious...are we the only ones in this world that know about them??? Has anyone every asked you this?? Let me know i hope im not the only one that gets this question...is it cause of where i live??? HUH???  |
I get it all the time... some people know they are a terrier of some sort... Annoying, but that's how they learn... and then they want one too ;) |
Yea i know...then they ask me where did i get him from and how much and do they still have some..cause they want to go and buy one! Ha! I didnt realize how much hard work it is to have one and i tell them that...but wyatt is a good dog...im glad my hubby and i have good hours...cause when im at work hes home with him and then when i get home..he goes to work...perfect! But its funny when i tell them u have to be home to have one of these till they get older they are like ok i will quit my job...wow  i was like no its not that serious...just wait till times are better! geez! The nerve of some people..just wait...i did!:D |
oh yes many a time. I even get asked if my two are the same breed. Uh yeah do you have eyes? LOL JK. maybe it's cause we keep Tigger shaven and cut short and Bear still has his puppy hair but it drives me insane. Next time I want to say " nope this is a yorkie and this is a yorkie look alike" see what kind of reaction I'd get from that. ha ha ha |
Oh, yeah!:D |
Funny, it seems that almost everyone askes me that question and I think to myself........it's a Yorkie...Duh! I always knew what Yorkies were before I owned one so I just figure that anyone who hasn't come from another planet knows too! LOL OOOPS, guess not! ;) Kim |
lol yea i always knew what there were before i owned one too...people have to get up on game here! LOL |
Can't believe you guys! If I took 20 Yorkies and lined them up in a row - more often than not, they wouldn't even resemble one other. Remember Yorkies can weigh from 1 1/2 pounds to as much as 14 (or more). Their colors can be different - their types of coats can be different. Some have ears up - some ears down - and to top it off they can have a dozen different haircuts..... I have had my Yorkie for more than a year and during this time, I have only seen three others - and two of these were at pet stores. If you don't go where people with dogs go - you just don't see as many dogs out and around as you used to. I have a Bichon Frise and even fewer people know or can remember the name of this breed (there are over 150 - probably closer to 200 different recognized breeds now). And - for people who don't have dogs (or have had their one dog most of their life) keeping up with the names of even the most common breeds isn't easy. And - for sure - a lot of people don't have the interest in dogs to begin with that most of us do. They love their own pet - but being a purebred this or a purebred that isn't something they're interested in at all - or pay much attention to. With all the leash laws, etc. anymore - there are a lot of different breeds that I almost never see...... or better yet - never see. People are always asking me what my little Yorkie is. I tell them that I know he looks like a loveable little Walt Disney mutt - but he really is a Yorkie. Can you imagine him with his one ear up and the other down sporting a home-done puppy cut? He, for sure, doesn't resemble the Yorkie that you see at the dog show - if you watch dogs shows or go to dog shows (a lot of people don't). I have friends who have other purebred dogs - and they are ask all the time what their dogs are also. It's not an annoying question to me at all. Actually, it's a very friendly question. I'm sure if I ask 50 strangers what breed of dog I was holding - most of them wouldn't know...... Carol Jean |
I get the same thing, or thats a yorkie right? like there not sure if it is or not. |

We get the question all the time and I think it's a kind one... :aimeeyork |
Mitzis Mom - I can't believe how much Mitzi and Chloe look alike - reckon they're kin:D Being from Texas (and you know, everything here is BIG), I don't think I really knew what a Yorkshire Terrier was until I got my Chester. I certainly didn't know what he was when I stole him (you'll have to read my other posts for this sad story). One thing's for sure, once you've had one, you can't be without:p |
In NY people just approach me and ask "how much was it?". They're all too familiar with the breed. Even though his one ear's up, one down (for now I hope  LOL) and he's losing his black fur in case of silver all over him -which is not as typical as the regular steel blue. But before I got Pepper I thought Yorkie puppies look like adult Yorkies, only smaller, the whole set with long flowing hair and the bow (I know - silly me  ) and if came across a puppy looking nothing like a grown Yorkie I'd ve asked too..... |
Most be seem to know that Bella is a Yorkie but on occasion I do get asked if she's one of the mixed breeds. I once had someone tell me I had a cute squirrel. |
:p We are just happy that Toto gets noticed!!! We always have to allow extra time when we take her out because everyone wants to touch, kiss and ask questions about her! We just figure it's part of the "Yorkie Experience"!! |
