New Member Here! Hi all, I found this website a few days ago because last week my Yorkie jumped down from the couch and he landed on his back leg wrong and he's been limping ever since. I thought I'd wait a few days to see if he just bruised it or see if he'd walk it off and he didnt so I went on line and started to research the issue and I found this website. To make a long story short I took him to the vet on Friday because my Peanut wouldn't stop limping....Then the horrible news came! His knee wont stay in place and he may have torn ligaments in his leg and he needs to have surgery. My poor baby is only 10 months old! I feel so bad for him! I go to the vet again tomorrow (Tuesday) and I'll find out the real damage! This is my first Yorkie that i've had so this is an awesome place for information and meeting new people, I look forward to chatting and meeting all of you!:aimeeyork |
Welcome to YT! I hope your furbaby feels better soon :( |
First of all welcome to YT! :D And secondly I am so sorry to hear about your little Peanut :( And not that it is good news by ANY means that he hurt his poor little leg, but at least it wasn't something worse :( I have heard HORROR stories about Yorkies jumping off couches...that is why I get so freaked out every time my little Stedman does it, and he does it ALL the time!! I can't get him to stop. I have tried everything. He is like a little acrobat! I will be thinking about your baby...and please let us know how he does after the surgery! He will be in my thoughts and Prayers :) |
Hi There! :) Glad you found the site! Okay so here's the story...These things can happen...Chloe my little girl is also 10 months old and not 3 weeks ago had surgery on her left knee for the same thing...her's was hereditary but that's neither here nor there! It's important to know these things happen with these little guys and the surgery although invasive will allow them to move properly on that knee...when my vet who concidently grew up with my dad (bonus :)) went in to fix her knee he discovered she didn't even have a knee cap to screw together...so he had to make her one as well as connect the cartlidge...poor thing didn't know what hit her...she felt bad for the first 2 weeks but after that it was like it never happened...so no worries he'll be good as new before ya know it! If you have any questions at all feel free to ask..there are a lot of people who have had this problem as well and everyone here is very generous and sweet! Best of Luck to you!! :aimeeyork |
