Heart Problems My yorkie was diagnosed with an enlarged heart. Can anyone tell me anything about this? He is only 2 years old. |
All I know is that my one yorkie, Zorro was diagnosed with an enlarged heart at 5 years and lived until 13 years of age with no problems. Good luck! |
I really don't know much about enlarged hearts in dogs - but I do know that they can live a long life, even with an enlarged heart. They usually take medicine, but not sure what kind. Of course, just like in humans, an enlarged heart may be very serious, it depends on how well it is working. |
You really should see a Vet familiar with YOrkies before you get too worried about it. In Yorkies, the heart is usually a little larger than expected for the size of the dog. Not all Vets would know that and would unduly alarm an owner. |
Thanks everyone for your responses. I have been worried. I will get another opinion from a different vet. This one was going to send me to a heart specialist to do tests which he said would cost a fortune. |
